The NY Times has a fair review of not just this album, but the circus of the last 15+ years since the Use Your Illusion albums premiered.

Short version - not that surprising, way over-produced, and not too believable.

"Guns-n-Roses" (if one can even call him/them that now)  WAS a great rock band that unfortunately very quickly deteriorated into a train wreck.

Even with as much talent as Axl may have, without at least Slash, "they" are no GnR.

That being said, I'll likely still buy it.

Buckethead's pretty amazing.

IMHO, there's not many bands that I think are as incredible as GNR was at their prime. That said, I don't care for the new single. Heard it a few times. Meh.

Aside from Axl's voice, there's nothing there that even slightly resembles GNR. He should have called it anything but GNR. Sad, sad, sad.

As you can probably guess, I'll pass.

+1

I'll give it a listen (somehow, if someone I know buys it) but I have my doubts I'll get it myself unless the rest is waaaaaaaaaay better than the single.

NAKID

I won't be buying it. GnR is no more and just because Axl fronts a band called Guns n Roses doesn't mean it's the same thing.

Only plus side is, Dr. Pepper is giving everyone in America a Dr. Pepper...  http://cbs4.com/consumer/chinese.democracy.drink.2.869325.html

There's a review of it on AV Club thats seems to be quite favorable. Still, I'll probably take a pass and wait for a copy to hit the local public library system.

I've heard a few tracks off of it

I like it

I'll buy it

it's no use your illusion but it far out shines the spaghetti incident

I like axl least of all out of GnR but I was sadly dissappointed when Velvet Revolver started releasing old GnR tunes with Weiland puking the lyrics

initially I liked it but he was trying too hard to be axl

Illusion was a crock and was the recording that made me a believer in illegal downloads... to spread 5 goods songs over 2 cds just to make us buy the second pissed me off(and cd's were like $17 back then too). And the record industry wonders why they are in trouble.  >:( I need a middle finger smiley.

the illusion albums had a great mix of artists

from Alice Cooper and Shanon Hoon doing vocals

to

Mike Monroe and Aaron Arkeen penning lyrics and playing backup

I really liked both those albums

wore the tapes out twice

Coma was by far my favorite track

KnightofNi

i've only heard a couple tracks, and i have to say. it's most definately not worth the wait.
part of it is the mix for democracy, for me, it's WAY off.

and buckethead kicks ass.

Seriously, when i am 800years old i want to rock like Lemmy! it is a religion that requires lots of determination, drugs, and Marshall stacks.
