Kona coffee is good, but it's overpriced. Ka'u is a little stronger flavor. Deathwish Coffee Company is the one for me. First time I made I had a pot killed from 6am to 12pm, half of my shift. I could see sounds and smell colors. I've swore by it since. It's even better if you do a cold brew with it. Super smooth and strong as it gets.

Growing and maintaining coffee plants is a pain in the ass. Sooo much work and overhead for the yield. I just do it for the hell of it. To send to friends, clients and family as a gift.

, a grinder and a Bunn machine I made sure to keep clean.
Those were good days

Espresso is 'all' about the taste. Most folks think there's more caffeine, but that's not the case.
Espresso has 5-6 times the caffeine as drip, per ounce. It's the difference in serving size that leads to the confusion.
In order to avoid this confusion, I suggest adding a shot of espresso to your coffee.

A shot of espresso is one serving. 6 ounces of American style coffee is one serving, though most people today are likely to down a mug significantly larger. As said before, the darker roast has less caffeine, assuming it is the same bean. In short, same amount of coffee, just less water.

I am more interested in the flavor than the caffeine count. Not to discount the pick me up....but flavor is more important.
Best coffee ever tasted? Jamaican Blue
Best coffee for day to day? Cafe Bustelo
Best brew method? French press
Worst coffee EVERY? The shit brewed at the station

Roasting itself has little effect on caffeine content. The confusion (similar to serving size) is in volume versus weight.
Kicking Horse explains it best: "If you measure your coffee by scoops, light roasted coffee will have more caffeine. Since the beans are denser than a darker roast. However if you weigh out your scoops, darker roasts will have more caffeine, because there is less mass."
As far as espresso, the better roasters will list recommended dosage in grams.

I do 860g/L of grounds for my cold brew, and drink a liter a day easy when I do make it. 4 jar batches usually.

For me, the pot is one serving...
Probably the best coffee I've ever had was some Brazilian Pilao I got from a friend of mine back in the early 2000's. I ordered some since and it hasn't been quite as good, and, once, pretty much yuck. I know there are differences in the growing seasons and years, but jeez...
Anymore, I just grind up and drink whatever my wife brings home from Starbucks. No, I don't particularly rave about SB coffees, but she works there and gets it for free... so who am I to argue? If I'm out and about, here in north Texas, both 7-Eleven and QT put out a decent cup o' coffee... if it's <30 minutes or so old.

Just ordered this grinder.
That looks well built.
Love the fact that it's a manual grinder.
I have a little electric Westinghouse electric grinder with a small blade similar to a blender that beats the beans into submission and don't really care for it.
It's inherited so I shouldn't complain but it never gets used.
I would definitely use that

Use a burr grinder. That's what I use is a Mr.Coffee burr grinder. Has a nice hopper you pour beans in that is good for about 2 1/2 pots or so and has adjustable time for how many cups you plan on brewing, 2-24 I think and variable grind from espresso baby powder fine to french press coarse.
