I am planning on making all of the 696 panels out of fiber glass. My buddy owns a composite repair shop and we are going to make molds from my body work. Anyone else interested? Not sure of the price yet but should know next week or two.

Hopefully inexpensive multicolored panels lining the garage walls of 696 owners.

see how hard it would be to make a one piece skin to cover the tank instead of the 4 pieces.

That might prove a little more difficult, but  I will have a look and see. You are talking about a kind of fiberglass "skin" to wrap the whole thing right?

yeah it might have to be two. but i think it could be done. maybe somethign that slides on from back to front and then have a small piece to close it up. maybe it's just making the back three pieces  into a single piece and leaving the one around the filler cap.

What do you think about changing the shape to look a little more like the traditional tank? Friday we start making molds. Will probably do the rear cowl too. Colored carbon fiber may be an option too.

taking an orginal monster tank and using it as a mold and adapting it? might be interesting.

This is looking like it will work and be very nice. When I get it done are you interested in one?

Raux, Day 1 is over and the buck is taking shape. The three into one idea is going to look great. The first one we will do in fiberglass to check fit on my bike, and then we will try colored carbon. I will post pics when it is done, hopefully next week. I am looking into the "scraper" idea as well.  waytogo
