I saw somewhere on the board here that a fellow rider had done a yellow headlamp. It was very cool looking.I wanted to do one ,but I did not want to run a foul of the plod.........So I contacted the Washington State Patrol in Olympia Wa and asked what the rules are for motorcycles in our state.Your state may or may not have different rules.
The paragraphs below pertain only as far as I am aware to the State of Washington.I thought this would make good reading for anyone interested.

"The headlamp color according to the law must be white.

The standard itself that outlines this is found in a federal standard.
Within Washington Administrative Code (WAC) 204-10, Washington State has
adopted Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) 108 and Society
of Automotive Engineers (SAE) J 578 as the standards for aftermarket
vehicle lighting devices.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is the
federal agency regulating original and aftermarket motor vehicle
lighting products, including newer technologies.  Within the FMVSS 108
standard, Paragraph S7.5 lists the requirements for a Replaceable bulb
headlamp system.  Specifically, paragraph S7.5(c) states that the test
requirements of for headlamps are outlined in sections 4.1, 4.1.4, and
performance requirements of section 5.1.4 of SAE J1383 APR85.  SAE J1383
section 5.14 states the color of headlamp shall be white as specified in
SAE J578.  If a headlight is built to conform to these standards it is
usually certified by the manufacturer as either meeting the FMVSS
standards or the SAE standards.  If such certification is not indicated
on the packaging of the lights, it is suggested that you contact the
manufacturer directly to determine whether or not the lights meet these
standards."

I hope this sheds light on this subject and yes the pun was intended. laughingdp
So no yellow headlamp for me....... Cry

ehhh, who cares man, i doubt they will pull you over.
in IL you cant have tinted front window and have to have a front plate, and yet almost every car has tints and no plate...
same is with hanging stuff off your rear view mirror, illegal, putting those clear or tinted license plate covers, clear turnsignals, and list goes on and on...
i actually had a cop compliment my yellow headlight  Police chug

i am pretty certain that ticket would be a fix - it - ticket.  If you want to go yellow do it until you get that ticket ( if at all ). The time it would take for you to reswap the bulb and get it signed off by highway patrol will help you decide if you do it again Grin

Favorite convo i read on this board
"PICS OR IT DIDNT HAPPEN"
"F**K U IT HAPPENED"

Suzuki Blvd M109R " Sliver " = assassinated by cager
PW 696 " Pearl " = traded in
M1100 " Loki " = Viking God of mischief ( Goddess in this case )
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in a pretty pristine body, but rather to come in sliding sideways all used up screaming F*CK YEAH WHAT A RDIE!!
