O.K., so out of the blue today, my wife says she wants a WII game system. Says they have a yoga game, and it would help her get some exercise.
Well, I can understand the need for exercise, I just don't know whether this will end up as another coatrack, like the stationary bicycle, and the treadmill did.
Anyone here have any experience with the WII system (Besides funny Youtube videos, that is.)?

Well is a casual gamer system.

Its a must buy for Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid and Zelda.

The Wii fit is actually pretty fun. You will get a good workout with that one and Wii Tennis is da Bomb.  [thumbsup]

We keep one at work to blow off steam.

Wii boxing is soooo insanely fun. My wife gets all serious and punches the crap out of the system. She gets a work out. Makes for some hella fun parties too.

the yoga is okay...my wife does it sometimes. the skiing game on the wii fit is kinda fun. tennis is the shit though  [thumbsup]

it's a fun system. I'm not a hardcore gamer, but it's fun!

drunken wii bowling and dance dance revolution are quite fun with the right crowd.   It's taken over from silly drunken board game night here.
It's still buy a flounder a drink month

Meh, I tried my friend's once. That was enough. I found the obtuse controller structure maddening, not fun. Even playing Mario Kart with university friends wasn't much fun, even though it should have been (the SNES version kicks ass). I'm not a casual gamer so the gimmicky controller isn't enough to win me over.

I'm guessing if you buy it for a yoga "simulator" it's going to gather dust after a week.

That Nice Guy Beck!

lots of fun but not in HD which KILLS it for me...........

For some reason I read this as "To world war 2 or not to world war 2"  :D

Is your wife one to buy something, use it a couple times, then just forget it?
Think about it, do you have a bread maker somewhere collecting dust?
Maybe a bicycle that was supposed to get ridden all the time?

just some ideas

the wii is great for party games.

we have gone from game night to wii night.
it's more fun after you have been drinking and are trying to manipulate the controller to carefully balance something in the game.

i have only played one game that is "adult" and the rest have been the sports games and the party games. i recommend rayman's rabbids for a great party pack.

I can picture Knight playing drunken Wii..

... And I laugh.

I'm looking for one. Keep going back and forth about it. I don't think I'll play enough video games to spend the $$$ on a PS3. Don't want a 360. And, the Wii is a decent price, easy to play (I've played a few games), and isn't very intrusive. I hear it is a blast drunk and is a lot of fun for those that don't play a lot of games and don't look for high def, realistic games.

It's a nice novelty for the casual gamer or non-gamer to have fun on but most more serious gamers I know tired of their Wii after a few months and started only playing when people came over.

Sounds like you need to find a friend with a Wii instead of buying one yourself. ;)

Like others said, if you are going from an XBox or PS3 the graphics may be a bit of a let down, but as a family games machine, its fun!
