Was actually trying out something Dock and I were talking about a few weeks back. At the Superbike School they start you off riding the track without using your brakes (teaching you to ride smoothly). So was putting in practice as I am trying to smooth out my riding in the corners. Plus the Duke has great engine braking which helps heaps.

It actually works..... waytogo

And Stu highly recommend the Stay Upright Course. I did it with a few other Monsters and learnt heaps (as in riding smoother not necessarily faster).  [moto]

Interesting you should say that to Stu who is thinking of doing the stay upright course. It was the one thing I kept getting told off for on the course - using the engine braking and not enough 'real' braking.

If you are constantly using your brakes, for their intended purpose, the theory is that you will be more comfortable using them to their full extent in an emergency situation ... as it turns out I am not real comfortable in either situation.

Hey Stu it is all to do with my virgin seat

Trev, ya beat me to it. I was going to explain there is a reason for the body language.

and only certain people are allowed to touch the Virgin seat, you have to earn brownie point for that.

You are right Betty re the brake thing. Just a little exercise I was doing...... Not recommending that you do it all the time........

Old habit I found I was coming up the corners fast, braking hard, then going into the corner slower than I could, then trying to speed up in the corner which just wanted to make the bike stand up which all meant I was uncomfortable in some corners.....

So doing my little exercise has helped smooth out my approach ,entry, way round and lets me power out......  [moto]

these pictures are of Nippy only as Slow is also very timid and hides alot. Had to take the shot of my hand rather quickly before he bit me.
