Jesus,
That video is funny as s#@t!!! I think someone posted a version of that with Hitler's staff buying him a Honda VFR instead of a BMW. That one was funny as s#@t too!!!
Thanks for the posts folks. Again, just curious if the outside world did the same as the D/FW group. It was like "will the last person on this board please turn out the lights"!!
Curios how many other forums he bought up did the same thing. The other two bike forums I belong to are too far below his "gotta buy it" radar.

Once upon a time there was this place where all God's children with Ducatis laughed and played and shared their stories and their knowledge amongst each other .
Then one day a wicked Giant came masquerading as the great Savior which all the Ducati children where very sceptical of .
The Giant said that he was there for the good of the Ducati children and he would make their lives better in so many ways and he would not change the beautiful world in which the children laughed and played amongst themselves.
The children grew more and more suspicious of this Giant and his promises and so the they expressed their fears of him in a 28 page or longer thread .Then one day it happened.
The Giant changed the happy world of the Ducati children and they felt so betrayed that they became disconsolate and they abandoned their changed world and dispersed into the wild .
Many days and nights went by and the children grew very melancholy.
Then as if a miracle had taken place , like the sunshine after a terrible rainstorm word spread of a new world where the Ducati children were once again being reunited with there former brothers and sisters.
One by one they began to appear and before long many of the lost children were together once again to laugh and play like never before.
And so we come to find ourselves happy participants of what is known as the DMF. A very special world made possible by a few extraordinary individuals. Dolph

I was a member of TOB since 04 and came here as soon as I realized all the good people were leaving. Reading the old post made me a bit sad though. I can't help thinking that some people got lost in the shuffle. Also, even if most of the members came here, I do miss having more photos posted. It was so easy to post photos before and we don't get nearly as many visuals as we did before. At the end of the day, I want to see as many photos as possible of the mods, bike, and fellow members.

Was having lunch today with a fellow Dallas/Ft.Worth DMFer and the subject was brought up regarding how many on this board got erked at the new owner's format of the old board and headed over here? Just curious and thought it might be interesting to ask.
The D/FW group is about 50% from the old board and 50% new folks who never even knew of the old board. The group has grown in leaps and bounds this last year. The D/FW club on the old board is a ghost town. Check it out and notice the dates on the threads and posts. I have gone back once or twice and found new folks and steered them this way.
Anyway, post up if you came from the old board and if you are still/if ever active on it. Just wondering.
Thanks,
fastwin

Those links made me sad too.
It was the first time I had been back since...then.
We decided to let the photo hosting sites do what they do.
We don't need to duplicate their efforts.
It's simply a matter of each member having a hosting account (usually free) and posting whatever they wish.

I joined TOB about 4 years ago when I bought my first motorcycle. Spent many a long nights posting while stuck at work and making friends. Helped organize local club events and used contacts from TOB wherever I went. Even became a Local Mod followed by a General Mod.
I started to read some of TOB resignation letters and the threads about the demise. But, couldn't do it. I just walked away. No fond farewells, no remorse. Just packed up and walked away. The lights'll eventually turn themselves out or burn out back there. To be honest, hadn't thought about the place for a long time. And when I do, it hurts a little bit. It really was the first online community I felt I belonged to. A place I knew I could go at all hours for some smoke and joke time with friends.
I do feel about the same about this place. It took a little while to grow on me. Even though most of the friends moved over here as well. But, it's like giving up your old security blanket. No blanket will ever feel as good.
But, I'm glad to be here.

DML refugee here. My native land was invaded by Canadians, marking the first time in the history of Canada that they have invaded anything. And then everybody left. Imperialism: you're doing it wrong.
Now that it is a more distant bittersweet memory, we might take an objective look now at how long it will take for TOB to die. I give it another year before it is either rolled into another VS site or shut down. Membership does not equal clickthroughs.

I spent some time on the old board while I was bike shopping, then posted a bit after I got my Monster. Was fascinated to watch the train wreck developing over there.
Then one day the site went down and when it came back I couldn't get my password accepted. Did that happen to others? Given the way the site was going, I wasn't in a rush to re-register, and never have. Came here instead.
From a few threads on TOB where people complained they could no longer edit content they had previously posted, I am guessing the admins there acted to prevent angry inmates from deleting or altering content they had posted prior to the sale.
If that's so, and my experience of being unable to use my former password was widespread, then in tyrying to protect what they thought they'd bought, VS has shot itself in the stomach.
They've ended up hosting a handy but ageing database of Monster-related info while attracting little new content.
If/when TOB goes belly-up, I wonder will VS hand back that content to some of the people who produced it - say, by offering it gratis to the admins here if they wanted to host it - or whether they'll simply burn it and move on.

I'm also a DML 'fugee. I joined TOB in the summer of 2004. Spent many hours on that site and made friendlies with quite a few members there. Back then the closest Ducati dealer to me was +10 hours away so the old board was an invaluable tech resource as well as a fun place to hang out with like-minded people.
I left the board after coming home from a week holiday and finding the place had changed and most of the nice people I knew had left.

Oh yes I came from there too. What I remember of the change over was panic in the streets. Looting and rioting, people running amuck setting cop cars on fire. I was insane!
FTR I think I was the one who called CAptncrunc chinken little. It was a lack of experience in dealing with the vicious nature of the Canadians.... I told myself it's just a bunny rabbit.
