i've seen/heard several clips that tried to demonstrate the sound of this new uneven firing order R1
...this one makes me want one (ok, more than i already did)

It puts the billet aluminum on the motorcycle...

That thing sounds sick...like it only has two cylinders. Wouldn't it have been a lot easier to just put a twin in there? Grin

It's a very interesting piece of kit and I actually really like it. If I were in the market for a sport bike, I'd certainly consider the new R1.

......Rossi's M1 still sounds better though Grin

Seriously, I have no interest in 1000s, but that makes my pants go crazy.

Would your pants go into orbit if they made an R6 with a 90-degree crank?

I'd bet money that the '10 R6 will be just that.

I'm with Daryl, it makes my pants feel funny.

I'd get one for the track if I wasn't deep down scared of 1000cc bikes. bow down

What is the torque curve like with the big bang cycle?
More down low grunt or is it just a twin sound?

Regardless, it's bad ass!!

Torque curve shouldn't be much different from a conventional crank setup, other than it may not be possible to get the exhaust header to work quite as well.

they say it gives the engine a lot more mid-range while still keeping the I-4 top end.

i dunno.  but that's what they say.

Is that the riders saying that, or the dyno guys?

'Cause that's kind of a free lunch deal...

i'm not entirely sure it really affects the power/torque in the way you'd think, more the delivery/power pulses.

it sounds like somebody jetted it really fat in the middle.  Grin

here's the original article about this technology in last years' m1:

That's a very interesting article, thanks, Derb.

Gonna have to think about that for a while.
