Does anyone have a VW or Porche cylinder that I can have or borrow? Any size and any condition if fine, I just need it for some research for a new Duc style motor (tech content).

I have a set of 94 mm pistons and cylinders.  Older cast iron cylinders.  They have been through the machine shop and haven't been used since. Is that what your looking for?

I'm trying to end up with 100mm+, but as long as they have the same physical external sizing, they should work just fine for me. I'm not intending to run them, only to fit and measure. PM or email me at: motomaxy@yahoo.com

I thought the same thing after seeing the bore and stroke of my 900. Are you going to try to run a vw piston on the duc rod? Good luck on your research. [thumbsup]

Custom rods and pistons, I'm just trying to avoid the expense of custom jugs.

CNC machining of cylinders isn't that expensive if done in small production -- just one-off examples initially wouldn't be fun.

Interim (and cheap) solution though is to machine/sleeve the factory cylinder ala www.lasleeve.com or other companies.  There are pros/cons to cast iron sleeves themselves -- but a topic for another forum perhaps.  DS1000/1100 should be easy to do a 106mm bore within.  Ben Fox has done these at 103mm in the past.  Problem is there is no 106mm piston readily available with correct valve pocketing without going having them custom made.

I've never done any work with the 1000 cylinders, are they THAT much thicker than the 900 ones?
