I remember seeing an insurance stat a few years ago, honolulu was ranked 2nd in the country for motorcycle theft.

Too bad the laws here seem to protect the criminals more than the law abiding citizens. Otherwise I would hope/wish that he would get shot while trying to steal the next one.

Can't say that I quite agree with the "eye for a wisdom tooth" philosophy, but he needs jail, and needs it bad.  And maybe a touch of sodomy.  Grin

Not really an eye for an eye, simply because I don't want to steal his bike.  I just want to shoot him.  Wink

kinda my point, eh?  an eye being worth far more than a wisdom tooth (imho), and a life, even a scumbag's life, being worth more than a bike.

hence the sodomy.

preferably by one of the *larger* inmates.

Well, I didn't go so far to say that I wanted to kill him, although that would most likely turn out to be the ultimate outcome.  I guess I am just fed up with seeing useless scumbags prey on other, sometimes hardworking, people all while they usually remain on the receiving end of some sort of social welfare handout.  This would be one of the few times you will see me revert back to my hard-line conservative side, but why should we (the taxpayer) fund these scumbags to sit in jail when all they really do is lift weights and further develop their criminal networking skills?

jail needs to be supervised community service.  and not the easy fun type, i mean poop-scooping, farming, ditch digging, garbage-picking, etc.  hot, sweaty work that pays poorly.  obviously these losers would go payless.  steal a bike?  spend 5 years working in a field.  no weights.  no A/C.  no tv.  no talking.

yes, many prison are a waste.  but it's SUCH an easy fix.  if the punishment is bad enough, crime is less attractive.  and given the rate at which the death penalty is exercised, it is not considered a real threat.

hard labor.  guaranteed.  for several years.

and crappy tasting but nutritional food.  there can be a whole service sector devoted to making food as bland as possible while still fulfilling requirements.

i like to pretend.

One reason why I love Joe Arpaio; he actually treats criminals the way they should be treated.  But do you think that sort of standard could ever be applied on a wholesale level across our country?  Not a chance, and that is why I revert back to my idea of letting the criminal get shot on the street, because you know the courts won't take care of it.

i think we are more likely to see proper punishment than we are to see benefit from people being shot.  hell, people get shot all the time in the act of petty+ crime.  yet it continues. meh, there's really no solution.  but i still like the idea of an a-hole suffering than being dead and not able to care anymore.  at least for this type of offense.

but now ees sleepytime.
