New York makes it really tough to own a handgun. When we bought the house in ABQ 5 years ago, I shipped Barb's 12 guage Smith and Wesson pump here. Best weapon for home defense- point, don't aim. I went into a gun shop to buy a cleaning kit for it and inquired about purchasing a handgun. I was told that, if I had a New Mexico driver's license, I could walk out with one. In NY, it takes about 6 months minimum, and this is not for a carry permit.

I want one (12 guage Smith and Wesson pump).  When I got my 9 mm here in Colorado last November, I had my New Mexico driver's license so we had to process it through my son who is a resident.  It took about 2 hours to get through  the background check.  I want a shotgun.  That's on my wish list for Christmas in case anyone needs ideas.   Wink

PJ & I both have Mossberg 12's

Great price, dosen't take up much space & will take care of the "Job"
I didn't want a show pony gun when it came to blowing people down 3 flights of stairs, so this fit the bill.

That's what we had before it got stolen (the regular 500 with Accu choke) and we were very happy with it. If I remember right it would hold six rounds
after I removed the wood plug...potent home defense device and fun on the skeet and trap range waytogo

Smith and Wesson had not manufactured many shotguns in its history. This piece is a 916T, which was evidently sold primarily to police departments as a riot gun.

Shotgun's not For Sale. Need to maintain order in these parts.

How about a telephone system? I got a few of those.

Have any of you seen the movie "Apaloosa"? I read the Robt. B. Parker novel and the sequel, "Resolution". Virgil Cole's sidekick, the Vigo Mortensen character, totes  an 8-gauge, a double-barrel. I bet you could hurt yourself with the recoil.

As they say, the book weas better. I really like Ed Harris as an actor, but he wasn't the Virgil Cole I pictured when I was reading the book.
