I heard there was snow on the Palm trees in the deserts of the Southwest and was wondering who saw snow that usually never sees any of the white stuff ?   Dolph

My wife is in Palmdale right now. She is trying to get to LA. Did the hiways just reopen in the last few hours?

Little bit of snow in Houma, Louisiana last week. We're about an hour from the Gulf.

Vegas airport was apparently shut down last night from snow...3.5".  It was the most snow in Vegas since 1979. I remember that storm...I was 5 and my parents took me sledding in the park by our house...1st snow I think I had ever seen.  ;D

I'm in Seattle now...lots of snow here as well. We get a little bit of snow every year...the extended period of sub 32 F temps this year is what is more unusual. The big deal the news makes about it is hilarious!  [laugh]

We have had some this week in parts of the Bay Area.

This is not me, wish I had the time for it though:

So how do the folks act when this foreign substance falls and accumulates ?

Here in Ohio the folks still drive like 70 miles an hour on the freeway when there is a glaze of ice on the road and cars and trucks are upside down sitting out in the middle of fields or all tangled up .

You would think the folks around here would know better but they still drive like idiots rain , snow , ice you name it !

I can understand you guys and gals having a problem navigating the white stuff since you don't have to hardly if ever having to do it .

I'm glad I don't have to go out in the crap for the most part.

I put my 30+ years in travelling from time to time on the Freeways of life during this soul wrenching time of the year .

I'm leaving for work and the car thermometer read -26 and I had to drive a road that was a solid sheet of ice for 10 miles for 2 weeks before it got warm enough for salt to melt any of the ice.

Every morning I would see at least a dozen cars 50 yards off the road out in fields or against trees

It was so strange. Ice allover everything .

I wore Golf shoes so I wouldn't fall down when I went somewhere that I had to do any walking like into the office.

Hopefully you won't experience those kind of conditions.      Dolph

That picture was taken on Tuesday.

The cyclist in the picture is riding a fixed gear bike, which is good for slippery conditions.   You can also buy studded bicycle tires.
