BB's are for people who are still running windows 98

Yeah, exactly.  Just like iPhones are just for unemployed musicians and artists who hang out at Starbucks with their Macbooks angled "just so" so everyone sees the backlit apple logo and goes "wow, Apple kid, you are awesome!  Look how unique you are, what, with all of your apple stuff like every other 20-something.  How empowered and creative you must feel!"

The video doesn't surprise me. the iphone on verizon has been a rumor for awhile. therefore apple probable already built in the hardware into all there new 3g phones. Another example, for some reason there is a gps chip in the ipod touch. Nobody really nows why, but maybe apple was planning something that didn't go through.

I'd recommend you hold off on a purchase to see if verizon announces it soon, or more hack info becomes available.

AT&T has an exclusive agreement for the iPhone until 2010.  Considering how much revenue it's generating for AT&T, I doubt they're going to be breaking that anytime soon.

You've seen me, I am cool!

My comment was more of a comparison of how different the phones are. I definataley am not the typical Apple user. Like I said, I've got the hook up. I've used the nokia n90, the hp ipaqs and other BBs, not the storm though.

If att keeps the iphone till 2010 then more hack info will be out soon.

;D  [laugh]

My next phone will be an iPhone (same thing I told Tom on the phone) BUT ... For what *I* need now (GMail, FaceBook, and ... Texting ?!?!) I'm sticking with my -$150 BB.

Then again, I live in NH and we have practically NO 3G ( ! ! ! )

O, the humanity

You're based in New England, right?

You should be concerned about AT&T.  I have a difficult time with service there.  My colleagues with Verizon fare much better.

One negative about the iphone, my productivity at work has gone down at least 20%. Seeing as how I can surf and post on this board.

Ok, it's a phone.

I don't buy one to web surf. I buy a phone for functionality of using the phone and email.

I guess I am not the typical consumer and that is why I don't own an I-Phone or have any interest in one.

well, i used to carry a phone and a palm pilot. when the treo came out, i saw an opportunity to carry one less device.

i still think that cameras on phone are kinda silly. mainly because the pics always look like crap and i almost always have my canon sd700is with me.

my phone has to be a phone first and foremost, then a contact/calendar/email manager, and everything beyond that is "extra".

i do miss the wide choice of games on the palm platform and all the little productivity apps that were available (pocket quicken, for one).

I use my phone instead of carrying a laptop for most things.   The inability to edit word docs and resend them would kill it for me.  iphone won't do that?
It's still buy a flounder a drink month

afaik, the only thing that's missing is cut & paste.

not natively... yet.

there are some workarounds, but with all the noise that's been made about it, i'd expect that functionality to become native soon.

if you dig deeper, here is the list:

Software/Version: Deterministic Network Enhancer (DNE) 2.21.7.233 through 3.21.7.17464,Access Gateway 4.5.7, Presentation Server 4.5

Vendor's Solution: Vendor Patch

Nature of Vulnerabilities: Privilege escalation in DNE via specially crafter device interface requests affects Cisco VPN Client, Blue Coat WinProxy, SafeNet SoftRemote and HighAssurance Remote. Search path vulnerability, authentication bypass
and buffer overflow lead to arbitrary code execution.

Oh I read deeper. My point being is that if they took the time to "develop" software with such vulnerabilities for a known platform with a long mutual working history, then what is to say they aren't rushing this to the market just so hey can make "millions" of apps available for the IPhone?

It's kind of like slippng on a condom after finishing up with sex to prevent disease or pregnancy.
