Hey all,

Due to recent purchases, I will no longer be able to afford a new bike this spring.  So I'm am left with the option of a used monster/supersport... or building a custom bike.  A chance to buy a 81 cb650 for about 300 bucks came along and now I have a dilemma.

Do I build a duc powered cb cafe bike, (cb 650s have some issues) and have a ok handling, good looking, bastard bike? (cheapest, more unique, pisses off purist.)

Do I heavily modify a duc frame to build a cafe bike. (more expensive, faster(build time), pure duc)

Or do I build a custom frame and basically build my own bike from scratch?  (most expensive, most time consuming, most unique)

What would you do?

Jaman

In absence of the Boobies choice, pure Duc.

i wanna see the honda with the duc engine.

if I had a vagina...I'd never leave the house

MadDuck

I bet you that some of those options will land you right back at the purchase price of a new bike if not more.  ;D
No modification goes unpunished. Memento mori.  Good people drink good beer.  Things happen pretty fast at high speeds.

It's all up to your will level, your thrill level and your skill level.  Everything else is just fluff.

If money is that much of a matter.....

I would just drive the Honda, as is.

I wouldn't say it is the cheapest route...but I guess it depends on what you have already versus what you need to aquire to accomplish this whole gambit....

figure 2500-4000 for the cb build
3000-5000 for the duc

and 4000+ for full custom.......

depending on what you have in mind...seems like the Duc and the CB are almost on par with one another...

If you have the time and talent, scratch built will always give you the most unique options.

ian, you are a talented individual - don't limit yourself to 2 options.
that being said - my vote was for custom frame with duc-engine (yes i know that won't be easy)

if you need help - you know where to find me
