Until further notice, we must move the trip.  I'm afraid that I have to be in Cinci that week now and it's getting too close to the wedding to plan that far ahead.  Sorry for this guys but if you'd like I can forward all the info I have on Big Bend if you decide to tear off on your own.

OMG you don't know how long I have wanted to do this ride. I have heard it's a pretty quick trip once you get outside of Abilene. I've had friends who have actually gone out there in a matter of 6-7 hours on the bike. These are HD dudes who do something like a race/timed/thingy to see how fast you can go out and come back. I'm thinking an 8-9 hour I-20W blitz then down south to the BBNP. One of my friends who has a Busa said he got his bike up to 180+ down one of the roads on a bright sunny day. When he came to a stop in a small crossing a statie came up and said that was some impressive driving, how fast were you going? Bobby said about 180 or so. Trooper said, I thought so I lost you at about 150. Went on down the road.

Look at me I'm a 970 now!

This may be my first multi-day ride. I have not been down there in many moons and never on two wheels.

Dax, any routes in mind so I can fire up the PC atlas and dream?

[moto] I would be interested in doing this ride !  [moto]

Das Boot will not do 150 mph unless you throw it out of a plane ! It will however ford small streams, go over loose rock bigger than pea gravel, and allow enough pillion for camping - but that slows it down even more ( to sensibly above the speed limit ) !   laughingdp

Sounds like a couple of different routes are being discussed ( Abilene vs San Antonio ) so I too will keep an eye on the thread and see what develops !   waytogo

My theory is that being hasty seldom allows for full pleasure - not that there is anything "wrong" with that !

Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.
