So with day 4 complete, it looks like a series whitewash down under in the last test match between South Africa and Australia will come to be. :o

I really do feel for the Aussies, they have been top of their game for so long that losing must come as a really bitter pill to swallow. [thumbsup]

i can't imagine if baseball games lasted for more than a few hrs. i was going to try to learn cricket until i found out that games could last a few days.

There are 2 main versions of the game

1. Test match Cricket that can not be longer than 5 days
2. Limited Overs games ( usually 50 overs per side )

It will take a really long time to explain the whole process

so a bowl game in cricket would take a week?

this is why it isn't popular

wives would not allow this

There is also 20 20 Cricket http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twenty20, which lasts about as long as an average baseball game. This version is becoming really popular in India.

I had the same prejudices against cricket that most Americans have until I started working in India. After playing the game and watching it on TV, I have to say it is a great sport.

it's the 5 days thing that gets me.

a shortened version might be ok. i wasn't told about the shorter versions though.

Having just moved to Oz I am just now starting to get into Cricket. As far as I can tell it is mainly an excuse to stay drunk for five days straight.

Think of a 5 day-er as being similar to a five game series in baseball.

Bah, one of my favorite sporting events takes over twenty days... and involves a bunch of skinny guys riding their bicycles around France in the summer.
