Anyone running a 6" BST rear wheel?

I lust after the new Black Mamba carbon wheels by BST.  They don't make a rear wheel in anything smaller than 6".  I have heard that the 5.75" variety of the old design has fit issues, so I'm guessing a 6" wheel will present even greater issues.  I emailed BST, and they say they have no intention of making a wheel under 6" and claimed they will work on Monsters.  They even sent me some pics of a 6" wheel on a Monster (I don't know how to host pics, but I'd be happy to email the photos the sent to me to  a board member that does).  So if you're running a 6" wheel, how is it?  How are the 5.75" rims working out of folks?

Wow those are hot.  Do you know what they weigh?  Motowheels only lists the older, 5 spoke version's weight, and BST says these newer ones are lighter?

Not quite the same as what you are asking about, but I am running a 5.75" on the rear of my Sport 1000.  Thing went on like butter to a hot muffin.  Now if I could only get a front wheel to work on  my bike...

Well, you have to qualify that with the statement of street vs GP1 on the 5-spokes. Even if you compare apples to apples (street vs street) and the 5-spokers show up a fraction lighter, the hoops on the 7-spokers are lighter than the 5-spokers because they have 7 spokes to support the hoop better and more evenly. That said, the MOI of the 7 spokers is LESS than the 5 spokers and so returns better handing charachteristics and less perceived feeling of weight.

But hey, they're Carbon and all Carbon is pure sweetness!

Well my bathroon scale  showed the rear at 5.5 and the front at 5. BST lists them at F = 5.48 R = 5.97.

I acknowleged they weigh more but it is not a straight comparison. The 5-spokers only have a front street wheel. All the others are race versions or are at least not specifically listed as street wheels like the 7-spokers, is my point...and again, MOI is the most important spec on a "light" wheel. The 7-spokers reign supreme there.

Motowheels? Can you chime in here? Then again, mebbe ya don't wanna....

If any of you could feel the difference when riding between a five spoke BST and a seven spoke BST of same width I'll eat my Sidis.

On the other hand if any of you can't feel a completely ride-changing difference between stock wheels and any BSTs you should go buy a big, heavy cruiser.

I was looking at the bike today, and man does it seem like a 6" rim would be a really tight fit.  Throw in the fact that you have to use a 190 tire (is this true?), and I'm amazed it works.  I know it does, it just seems like it would be really close.  I emailed BST, and they told me they had no intention of producing the Mamba in a rim smaller than 6".

You can use a 180 on a 6-inch rim with no problem whatsoever.   I've been running one on my S4Rs with a 6-inch BST 5-spoke for a year.   I also have had no clearance issues with the 6-inch BST on my S4Rs.  Bolt-on, forget it.

BTW, I checked with my race sponsor, Donnie Unger of Duc Pond MotoSports Ducati, before buying the 6-inch wide rim, and it was his opinion on the 180 tire (Basically, "Bub - no problem!")  that decided it for me.  I've ridden my S4Rs and my son's 955i Speed Triple with both 180 and 190 tires, and both bikes feel better in, ah, spirited street riding and in track day riding with the 180 tire.  To me.

Ymmv, imho, etc, etc.

I have a 6.0 BST on the Monster. No clearing issues and the bike rides like a dream. I did put a 190 tire on it. One 'problem' I have: For me it was more difficult to get rid of the 'chickenstripes'.....
It's not the 'Mamba' but the older one.

Oh, by the way.....
I can imagine that when the chain gets stretched at a certain amount, you could get clearingproblems with the swingarm.
