Look what was hiding under my belt covers.  I took them off to paint them and boy was I glad I did. Bearing fell apart and seized up and started tearing the belts.  Anyone else seen this before.  This scares me as the bike only has 4k miles.  Had bike towed to Ducati Austin. The dealer said If I rode it I would be looking for engine on EBAY.  Pretty friking scary...Makes me want to get open covers so I can keep an eye on things in there.

need some of these

WOW - you're lucky  Shocked waytogo

Isn't your bike under warranty - so it would have been Ducati's problem, not yours?

Better not to find out cheeky

+1 on the SpeedyMoto open cover covers - very cool look

Huh close call. Glad you saw it in time. Now go buy a lottery ticket, or maybe not ,because I think you have used up a good deal of your luck at this one. Grin

You are typing within the quote text - try putting the cursor outside the last quote signs. If you "enter" you should see the cursor move away from the quote.

Do the SpeedyMoto really protect anything? Wouldn't just running no covers be the same with the exact same risk of getting something in there?

Let me guess - S2R1000?

There were a lot of those bikes that had the belt tension spec that was too tight.  This lead to.. exactly what happened to you.

Scary. Guess I need to weigh the risk of no cover vs open covers.

there is no risk. This is why you should inspect your bike often. I cant tell what bike you have, maybe a 695 or S2R800 from the looks of the header. But it might of been that the belts were way to tight. When was the 600mi done? which reminds me, its been almost 4,000 miles since my 6,000 mile.....

I gotta go check mine!

600 mile was done by KC International on time.  The bike has under 4 grand on it.  I will keep an eye on this for sho in the future.  Think I'll go with the speedy moto covers and I can check it every pre-ride.

Im more intrested in wen the 600 mile was done. as in the date. It might of been when the tighter specs were still in effect.
