I've always been a fan of simplisity, and the old SS's fell right into that catagory.  I've owned two, a 750 and 900 and thought, though down on bhp, they were great real world bikes; Easy to ride and with simple, air cooled mills.

But build one with the 1100 motor, radials, adjustable suspension, etc.?  I'd buy one.

I'm gonna shit in your helmet the next time I see you.

Isn't that one of the artist rendering of the streetfighter? The bike looks nice, maybe for a Sunday rider and I really see no reason to have the 1100. I think it may sell better with the 696 motor. Remember that sometimes less is more.
08' S2R 1K   That was close  damn near lost a $400 hand cart.

well...not bloody likely....2 valve is more for road bikes for the way Ducati is implementing them...an SS doesn't seem to fall into that scheme of things and if it did, it'd have to be a cranked up mill for to compete....a 90hp 1100 2 valver just won't compare with a 110hp 4cyl I-4 in the track market of today....

I am a Ducati fan and love SS's, but I don't see a bright future for on on the streets of today....maybe in 5 years as a retro bike of the SC line...but not as a serious model.

It's a totally different rendering. If you look closely, this rendering have the 696 swing arms

"Ducati has been busily introducing new product over the last few years, with world-beating superbikes, standards and even a big supermoto. Sadly, there is no word from the factory or the rumor mill of a new Supersport. But if there were a new SS in the works, it might look like this tasty portrayal by Italian designer Oberdan Bezzi."

feck boys, we've been had

Big Troubled Bear

Looks nice like all his designs, but somehow I don`t think it will happen :(
Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.

Speeddog

That'd be a fun ride there.

Wouldn't want to race it against I-4 600's, but it'd be wicked on the street.  [beer]

Racing against I4 600's isn't the end all be all.  That air cooled 1100 engine in a properly done lightweight street racing configuration would be awesome.  I think the only thing that brought the demise of the former SS was the aesthetic design. I never could warm up to it like I did the SS up through the '98 models.
No modification goes unpunished. Memento mori.  Good people drink good beer.  Things happen pretty fast at high speeds.

It's all up to your will level, your thrill level and your skill level.  Everything else is just fluff.

Put one of the 4 valve engines in that and maybe change the swingarm and that would be a real nice alternative/step down from the 1098 or 848. But I know that wont happen  :'(

Step down?  Wouldn't changing to the 4v motor and different swingarm make it a 1098/848?

Porsche Monkey

That's one sexy bike. I want. A 1100 two valve would be fine for me.

i want one.  [evil]
(I love that 1100 2V motor....)

i think these would be able to run in AMA as well....

Raux

the SS should be an aircooled 2v period. 4v watercooled are SBK.

I meant old 4v motors like a 996, more grunt than a 2v but tamer than the 1198 powerhouse. Thats also what I meant when i say itll never happen
