Is there any mechanical differences between a 2006 & 2007 s2r 1000?  Just curious as i have an 06 manual for an 07 bike ...

I know little about the 1000 series motors and even less about fuel injection, but I think I read somewhere that one of those years has an improved fuel injection. I think Brad Black has done some testing.

Why would the ECU make a difference in regards to the manual?

Mechanical possibly, how the ECU is flashed...not so much.  Am I missing something?

I think 2007 is the model year Ducati started advertising 50% less maintenance costs.  I don't know how this translates to mechanicals, but something must have changed.

The construction is most likely same.  Just that the materials used may have changed.  This change probably happened well before it was advertised though.

RIGHT - good point!   so what did Ducati DOoooo....?!?

it looks like all the ecu's on the  Monster S2R 1000 are all Magneti Marelli IAW 5AM; so is there a variation with the ecu flash?  BTW what IS an ecu flash?  Ie Euro emissions Vs US Vs performance? are the differences I could think of.

these ECU's are essentially EEPROMs, flashing an ECU means that you've caused the memory to be overwritten with new info.

I would not worry about ECU differences, there nothing you can do about it. Unless you plan to spead some big $$$ and get rid of it.

I think there is an additional sensor on the 07 which supposedly is not on the 06 model. I bought a late 06 manufactured S2R1000 and it had the sensor which seems to surprise a few. Anyway, gotten rid of it when I changed out for the termi full system.

is that the "lamda" sensor in the bladder your talking about? (for CO2 measurment I think..)

Also I noticed the plugs for the ecu are red & blue color instead of gray & black .... theres gotta be a reason!  Explanation anyone???
