I am on my kick to work out 4 days a week now. I did spinning on Monday and I did a step class yesterday. I was thinking about trying Pilates, but all the pics online are of women doing it. Would I be the "creepy" guy if I showed up for that class? There is also a Yoga class an hour later.

Should I try one of those, or just go to the spinning class again?

The step class was almost comical. I only knocked my steps over one time though. The instructor said not to worry, everyone is pretty bad at first.

Nothing wrong with yoga or pilates.

It'll help you focus on your goals.

Just don't get caught focusing.  ;)
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

There are guys in the pilates/yoga classes at my gym.

Go for it.   [thumbsup]

Be prepared to be sore.  There are more core muscles that you think.

Go slow and focus on form, not speed.  Doing the moves right yields more benefit than doing more, fast.

Keep in mind if you listen to ehr, all possibility of a surprise teabagging for some poor woman goes right out the window.

I wussed out and did the spinning class. The women in there really kick butt. I dont feel too bad about it, but I made it through the whole class without stopping this time!

Thanks for the tip on baggy shorts. On that topic though, I am kinda creeped out by these dudes standing naked in front of the mirror checking themselves out.  [puke] I hope my daughter never dates.

They are pretty much like any class - a lot of the difficultly level will be based on the instructor, and some on you.  I've got a friend who's a certified pilates inst. and she loves to inflict the hard stuff on me, that she doesn't get to do to the folks who usually show up in the normal classes.  So it can be tough... watch out for single leg bridges... those are evil.  Also.. go slow, lest you shoot yourself off the end of the 'reformer' gizmo like, 'someone'
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.

yoga is responsible for a large part of my weight loss (45 lbs) and completely responsible for me missing no work due to two ruptured disks for more than a year now.
flexibility, strength, coordination, balance....do it.

I've had good experiences with Yoga too. Want your ass kicked? Do Bikram Yoga or some other hot-room yoga.

I took pilates and thought it was a BLAST!  Mind you, I've been working out for years now and I thought it would be a cake walk.....boy was I wrong!  For the next week, I couldn't walk straight because all my adductor muscles, my inner abdominal muscles, and my glutes were shot!

Joseph Pilates was a guy...

Go for it!
