This would be so cool to see. Wow, four world champs going at it in superkarts at Laguna. How cool would that be?

Well, this is good news. I was getting tired of the stupid AMA Pro Time broadcast show. I would much rather TIVO or watch the specific AMA races that I choose rather than have to watch an entire 2 hour program and fast forward through the BS to get to what I want to watch. Dumb format... finally back to normal! waytogo

OK, I just watched the TIVO broadcast of the World Supersport race from Miller. Why did they have the regular AMA commentators do that race? Where were the good WSBK/MotoGP European commentators? I like Scott Russell as a racer but he kinda sucks as a color commentator and Ralph Sheehan just needs to be pistol whipped. He sucks on a major scale. S#@t, he couldn't even pronounce Kenan Sofuoglu's name right and good old boy Russell did?Huh? WTF? Like some other sporting events, it's best just to watch it with the sound muted. Did Sheehan take bad commentator lessons from Gregg White? I hate to say this but I miss Freddie Spencer...  Tongue Good racing just bad TV. bang head

I agree with all negative comments and violent innuendo about Ralph and Greg. I thought Scott did a decent job for his first time as junior commentator, and I enjoyed every single time he corrected Ralph's ridiculous statements.

RS - Wow, did you see how RacerX really caught RacerY's draft and passed him n the straight!?!!
SR - some hesitation... RacerY got a much better drive exiting that turn allowing him to zip by RacerX (there was NO drafting on that pass)

and so on...

I was hesitant to bring the whole crap commentary up regarding the WSBK races but yeah... horrible.  Actually thought Scott Russel did reasonably well (didn't realize that was his first pass at color commentary...) but the other two, GONG!  Kinda made my teeth hurt switching directly from the MotoGP crew over to the "regular" AMA train-wreck  Lips Sealed

I also watch the SPEED broadcast coverage of the Rolex Sportscar and the American Le Mans series; if I was just guessing, I'd say SPEED blew their commentator budget on those five guys - they're pros that add a ton of value to the broadcast.  Now if only us moto fans could be so lucky  bang head  laughingdp

Maybe I was a little harsh on Russell. I absolutely loved him as a racer and now I have to look at him (and listen to him) in a different role. "Suck" was too strong a word. That applies more to Sheehan. I am sure Russell will improve... especially if they give him something better than a trained ape to work with! Tongue

I'm actually not positive that's Russell's first commentator gig, just the first time I've seen him do it.

Speaking of racers being commentators, I thought it was cool when Steve Martin of WSBK participated in a recent SBK race weekend as a substitute rider. Gives him a little more credibility.

Well, steve martin raced WSBK for years, on DFX,  and Foggy Petronas (and maybe Ducs at some point?).  Unfortunately most races I see now are in French, but for a while I was able to see MotoGP on Eurosport UK.  Holy crap, those are good commentators.  Julian Ryder, Randy Mamola...

This could be neat. I would love to see KR Sr. back with his racing team... just with someone other than his youngest son as rider. Tongue

i'd like to hear Bayliss as an announcer. Troy's Story shows he can speak reasonably well, has a good sense of humor, and can talk technical details quite well. Then again, you can beat the really excited british guys.

But really, the guy who sounded like Matthew McConaughey...whether he used to be a racer or not, the whole time I watched, I kept hearing "alright alright alright. ... it'd be a whole lot cooler if you did.... i keep gettin' older and they stay the same age"

This is only indirectly related (at best Grin), but I thought some of you might get a kick out of it:
