Holy shit!! Didn't see this coming! Ducati out of WSBK? Wow...

http://www.cyclenews.com/articles/road-racing/2010/08/27/ducati

That's too weird.  Sad day for WSBK.  I wonder if TV veiwership will drop?  It's cool to see Biaggi and the Aprilia or Corser and the Beemr run well but I'm not tuning in if there's not a Duc in there with at least a chance of winning.  Ten Kate Honda?  Mmmm, nah.  Or what's-his-name English-guy on the Yamaha?  Not so much.

Well, a Ducati forum poster that's blatantly pro-Ducati.  Who knew  laughingdp

Let Aprilia have their day in the sun, the cheating bastards! cheeky There's still some good racing in WSBK, and there's nothing wrong with cheering on Ducati satellite teams, is there?

Reality check: the days of V-twin dominance in anything but flattracking have been over for a few years, and Ducati just needs to go back the drawing board. 4 cylinders are fine with me as long as they are Vees and have Big Bang firing order.  I'm just not quite ready to throw in the towel and start watching motocross.

I doubt if it was that close to the line they would be allowed to race.  Anyway, it doesn't matter since there are no more Ducs so I'll root for the Beemer now.

they are not allowed to do it anymore, so its not a very stiff penalty.

if they go 4 banger they can't be called Ducati anymore.....Cedici being the exception since it sounds soooo good.

The GP Ducati being a big bang four banger is one thing but Ducati has defined itself within a mass-market context as a twin cylinder machine.   Desmo valves, an L-Twin and a dry clutch, thank you very much.

Things change.
I predict that the replacement for the Superbike will be a V-4. It will eat MVs and Aprilias for lunch, and will cost $25K, and we will all love it.

The crystal has become dark now...I must rest....

They charge too much already for their bikes. That's why most of us don't own any new Ducatis. The economy sucks... duh? That is also why AMS has the showroom floor insanely crowded with bikes.

wtf are you talking about? we always have the same # of bikes. one of each color available, and each submodel. somebody buys one, its removed from the showroom floor and replaced the next day with another - so there's always the same # no matter how many bikes we sell or don't sell.  Certainly disagree about insanely crowded... there's room to throw a leg over each bike and right it, easy for us to roll them around and whatnot when somebody picks one out.

drop your bifocals or have you just forgotten what the shop looks like?

This sounds somewhat like the stage directions for the underground factory scene in Metropolis....We all know you're not just "selling motorcycles", but are in fact running an evil empire based on exploiting our deepest desires! laughingdp

Interesting front row for today's MotoGP at Indy. Nicky was very impressive, probably due to, and not in spite of, the crappy condition of the track. I sure hope VR regains his confidence and full use of his extremities before next year. It's sad to see Randy dP running at the back, he "coulda been a contender".
