Gee I'll not be pleased if this rain continues for the whole ride. I mean I don't mind it and I am prepared but still.
Did a little prep day today, checking bolts, screws, chain sorting luggage and the like.
A week to go and the
is already starting to grow

Ice Man! (what was that movie called wing man?) Waddya need a locker for ? bags of cash, gold bars, Grange
?
My panniers are lockable, so can probably fit a little bit of gear in them when we're at the track - assuming we leave most gear at the accomodation when we're at the track...

I have seen them at the MotoGP (which is run by the Grand Prix Corporation in VIC). The WSBK is run by Phillip Island Circuit, so probably best to give them a call to be sure.

If you are parking your bike in the " Lions Club manned secure compound section" they store your stuff (helmet and riding gear) for you each day that you pay for.

OK how about
for a day 3.
Bright, through Mansfield and Jameison to Reefton spur, down into Melb to visit Brad if he's around the shop on the Thurs arvo, otherwise straight down to PI.
Hiya goldFish, Just a heads up, I thought that I'd mention that although I haven't ridden it myself, I have spoken to others who have and part of the road from Jamieson to Reefton Spur is unsealed road.
I've heard that it is well packed and would be fantastic if they sealed it. However, my understanding is that taken easily; it can be done.
Cheers,
G

FYI: I've been using this website to keep up to date on which roads in Vic are closed:

Hi G
Dirt!! That's a bugger my duc doesn't like dirt very much although I have done it. Wish google maps would show that. Bit stumped for which way to go now. There doesn't seem to be any other way to the Reefton spur that is sealed and doesn't go anywhere near the Kinglake complex fire. May have to go the Omeo hwy after all. And there will still be fires to avoid that way too. Been watching the fire maps and just hope that the map will be fairly clear of fires in a week's time.

Hi Heather,
Another option is to go the way I went up to Canberra and that is via the Monaro Hwy. It's a big ride. Cooma, Bombala, Cann River, Orbost(police can be active in that area and up the hill to Newmerella
), Nowa Nowa, Bruthen and Bairnsdale . Then there is the transport section. This could be up to 160km on the Princes Hwy.
Next you could head to Mirboo North. I usually come from Melbourne and turn off at Trafalgar, but from your direction there is an earlier turnoff. There are a number of options of less obvious routes through this region and I can make further suggestions, but it will be towards the end of the day and you may prefer to go via less tight stuff at that time. Leongatha, Inverloch, Wonthaggi, Kilcunda, and PI.
Here's another website to watch:
http://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/incidents/incident_summary.htm
It's a very dynamic situation, I'm guessing it will be very different in a week's time. I rode through the South and West Gippsland areas (close to PI) yesterday and except for the Bunyip Forrest Fire to the North, the air was fairly clear of smoke.
