Does anyone know if I can put an M1100 top triple clamp and bar mount on an M696 to mount 29mm tapered bars? (like Rizomas, Pro Tapers or Renthals) They both have 43mm tubes, but I dont know if there is something I am missing. I DON'T want to use the Rizoma or TAG adapters as this will raise the bars. Thanks in advance!

isn't the tapered bar a DP option for the 696? in that case shouldn't it be the same clamp?

Raux,

Thanks so much for the reply. I have no idea, as I bought my bike used. But if it is an option, wouldn't I need the optional clamp?

The clamp of this set is 10 mm higher then the stock clamp. The other aftermarket bars will fit. But the DP combination is absolute brilliant even if it is very expensive.

Moschy,

Do you know how much the DP bar and clamps are? I have tried to register at Ducati.com twice, but I never get a return email to activate my account. The Rizoma mounts are $119 and the Rizoma bar is just over $100. Are the DP's more than that?

Thanks!

I can only tell you the european price. I've paid 190 euros for the complete set (clamp and bar)

If you look at www.store.commoto.com they charge 249 US$.

Looks like the price is nearly the same compared to rizoma in the States. Over here Rizoma is a liitle cheaper. Grin

Best

Thanks Thomas,

I registered at the site and they took off another $12! Cool, getting my bars! Tail tidy will be here in a week. And the mods have begun!

Why is it better?

here's my take on the RG Racing Tidy Tail.
Basic:
-ordered directly from RG Racing
-took a week from UK for shipping.
-RG Racing photo gallery http://www.rg-racing.com/RGProducts/ProductGallery.aspx?sku=lp0072bk&page=1

Pluses:
-the kit is thick high quality tough as nails metal
-Painted black already.
-keyhole is in the correct location on the side.
-plate light is screwed on in the correct location and looks real nice.
-two pieces only that line up real nice with the bikes lines
-looks like it will fit euro and stateside plates
-fits nicely underseat edges with no sharp edges.
-place to put the wiring in the pieces
-cheaper than the DP shorttail
-even included shrink tube for the plate light wires

Minuses:
-my bottom piece is folded a bit too narrow so i have to press out the sides abit. when i mean a bit i mean 1/16 of an inch or less, but because the metal is so strong it's not easy
-the bottom back tab where it is to be screwed together with the top piece again is folded a bit off could use the screws (but when a plus since i ran the plate light through one of the holes)
-it's @ $50 more than the CW tail
-no blade connectors so had to cut stock plate wires, but not a major thing since they provided roud connectors (which are more secure than the stock)

VS

My experience with CW

ok put it on, but it isn't the best as far as fitting the bike (i mean i'm being realllll picky though) and the instruction in my mind are backwards.
the sides don't like up with the bike sides, i'm afraid the sharp edges might cut the seat riding 2 up. i'll take a closer look in the morning.
also, as i put it together and starting assemblying, trying to figure out where to run wires, i realized it would be easier to put it 75% together off the bike with wires on and then slide the whole unit in place. working the 3 pieces separately onto the bike and figuring the wiring sucked.

maybe CW will rework the part, fabricate it a different way so it's only 2 parts. like the light mount with the undertail a single piece and the tag holder separate. just would be easier. also i wish they would have rolled the top edges of the light mount to avoid the top sharp edge and corners.

so, if you are getting this, i suggest getting the wires run through the three pieces, don't stick on the tag light (just leave it hanging til done), have a friend hold it up to the bike, run the wires onto the bike, screw the bolt closer to the front then work your way back.

after i check it for clearance on the seat, i may have the edges worked  or put some rubber on the edges to protect the seat, of course after getting it powder coated black.

Raux,

You are SO right my friend! I just received my CW tail and it's a POS. It looks like it was pressed out of a model airplane kit. Little tabs sticking out all over the place, sharp unfinished edges. I Dremeled on the thing for over an hour, then prepped, primed and painted it, and I'm not even gonna put it on the bike. I HATE the new location of the key! Ordering an RG today. Live and learn.  bang head
