"AND THE WINNER OF THE MONSTER 1100 COMPETITION IS...

While the competition was fierce, in the end there could be only one. Votes came in fast and strong showing support for Ducati dealerships around the country. As the counting began it was uncertain who would emerge victorious. Throughout the week votes remained close but a victor was crowned. With inspiration taken from the urban Los Angeles landscape Del Amo Motorsports captured the most attention and has taken their Monster 1100 to the winner's circle.
“The concept for the bike emerged from a gathering of ideas supporting the urban landscape found in the Los Angeles area. As many of you know, Los Angeles has many of the Nation's most pristine riding areas, canyons and highways abounding throughout Southern California.

The most prominent piece in our design is the Los Angeles City Hall building, arguably the most recognizable Los Angeles Skyscraper. We utilized a view of reverse construction on the building to tie into the trellis frame that Ducati is famous for. The front windscreen and rear seat cowl were designed using the artist's rendering of Downtown Los Angeles seen from overhead. Also worth mentioning is the tank stripe which pays homage to the new Ducati Logo. We utilized the Italian flag in the design to pay tribute to those who brought over such a wonderful bike. This experience has been very arduous but well worth the experienceâ€"from the 2 week deadline (concept to finished product) to the install and final unveil.

Del Amo Motorsports would like to thank Ducati for this unique opportunity. We here at Del Amo Motorsports Redondo Beach, CA would like to thank all who contributed to the final design. Art and Design by Alan Villanueva, Graphics by Expectalot, Monste 1100 S by Ducati North America".

Ducati North America would like to applaud Del Amo Motorsports for a job well done as well as all of the dealers that participated in this competition. Many unique and creative Monster 1100s were unveiled to the public just a few short days ago. Interest has been high making these customized Monsters the focal point of many conversations.

Stay tuned for further happenings with these customized Monsters. "

it was one of my top 4 choices ... tough to decide; also liked the day of the dead theme one; and the funky paint job by that artist San Fran artist ...

No tail chop, no cans, no open clutch, nothing special or even different from a stock white one other than a paint job... Pretty lame if you ask me... And dare i say, somebody had his peeps vote for him on the net...

I agree, nice paint job, but no soul of a monster.

I liked the Sask, bike, just cause they were thinking outside the box, being different.

I liked the promo too, a later unveiling would have given the dealers more time to go nuts.

Here's a beer for the SASK dealer, [drink]

This was the most stock of the bunch. At least we now know which dealership has the most friends willing to vote multiple times.

+1 on the Sask Monster--it had the most interesting concept of the bunch.

And though I'm surprised the Beverly Hills entry did not smoke the competition, the "winning" bike from Del Amo is about as exciting as watching snow melt.  BORING!
2008 S2R 1k.  Black.  Pazzo Levers, 14 t front sprocket, CRG Hindsight LS mirrors, Cycle Cat Frame Sliders,  Oberon open clutch cover and gold/black EVR pressure plate, full Arrow exhaust with reflashed and mapped ECU, tail chop with gold Rizoma Avio 21 turn signals, Ohlins rear shock and Rizoma fluid reservoirs.

Well guy's i'm disappointed in that the bike i had out over the christmas holidays on which i completed 420miles had more DP accessories on it than any of the competition bikes:ie open clutch cover+red p/plate,carbon termi's,steering damper, comfort seat and loads of carbon fiber. I have to admit that it didn't have a fancy paint job but most monsters that you see don't, but they do carry alot of DP accessories which to me is the way that most monster owners give their bike an identity of it's own and on which ducati has built it's customer base.  :(

Honestly, this whole contest was set up wrong. Originality it seemed as only about paint jobs. I think in essence that Ducati wanted to find some panels for putting out as DP parts?
I think if the contest was put together as a 'custom' Monster. a lot of the things would not have been DP parts and therefore, no good in the money department for Ducati.

All in all, would rather have seen the Indy custom 696 win!

OH and yes i voted for the winner (sorry to those who are here) but i took it as a custom stock panel contest, not the full blown custom.

can't remember which one I voted for, but I passed over all the ones with stock rear sets. That's the only part of the Monster that I don't really care for.

The competion generated the publicity that Ducati intended.
Mission accomplished.

The most radical one IMO was Beverly Hills Ducati with their Acid and LSD trip Beatles inspired paint, but I still voted for Modesto Ducati.

Why Modesto,

Cause the ol Monster Chromo's were cool as hell, and it was great to see someone make something somewhat similar. I figured if Ducati was going to base any changes off of the information they received, it could help to bring back the chromo, which may help make me a (new) monster buyer again.

O-well,

I thought the winning bike sucked, but then again, most of them did, so I am not surprised.

Maybe the beautiful genius of the whole thing was that Ducati wanted to inspire all of you to outdo them! They showed their (so called best), and you get the opportunity to blow them away by purchasing the bike and modding it (even just slightly) to be more custom than theirs.

i hope they learned that monsters owners dont like chopper paint jobs...
