Has anyone put Pistals in the their 800.  Did a search and came up with nothing.  If you have, what have your results been?

Anybody with HC pistons in these bikes?  What results might be expected?

Check this out:

http://www.ducpond.com/cs_800r.html

I sent Donnie an email. This bike (same engine as S2R800) is putting down 90hp on the dyno with 112 octane race fuel, 20 more hp than my stock engine with PCIII, exhaust, airbox etc.

Donnie does good work.  They are semi local to me/Washington DC, at about 70 miles out.  But they get a lot of business since they do good work.

That bike is way more tooled up than just pistons - so don't expect 20 more hp from the pistons.

YOu will get more horses, more torque, more heat and more cost at the pump.  I can't give you hard power numbers.  But your bike will run hotter - some people have had to move to larger oil coolers when running tooled up engines.  Also, the higher compression and temps will mean you'll need higher octane fuel to prevent pre ignition.

Agreed, to get that kind of power out of a 800 requires lots of compression, lots of light parts and will create a great deal of heat.

For those to lazy to click that linky (though you should - it's a sweet bike)

Here's some of what's going on

• Port & Polished Heads
• Custom Valve Guides
• Race Cams
• 12.5 to 1 Pistons
• Superbike Crank -   Lightened & Balanced
• Lightened Gears
• Lighten Flywheel

- I'd bet there's also different valves, or perhaps larger heads on it... perhaps a dual spark set up

Does anybody know of a 800 dual spark setup?  It seems logical to do if you were going to do the heads.

Ducpond does them - it's custom work as you would expect.

Head work, dual spark and some pistals might make a nice streeable engine with just a little more zip for the track.  Guess I know what I will be doing this winter...

Donnie did his custom head porting work, put in HC pistons, and degreed the cams on my S4Rs this past winter, and he told me to expect about 10-12 HP from the work.  Seat of the pants, (no dyno run before or after) that's about what I got.  The bike is peppier, more responsive when I crack open the throttle, and generally more fun to ride.  Not tremendously more powerful.   I decided to put a 1000SS engine in my 800SS when I switched from Moto-ST racing to track days.  The difference between the 1000SS and 800SS stock engine is startling when you ride them back to back.
