I might have to steal this paint scheme when I start my CB550f Cafe Racer Project.

you're gonna kill me for saying this, but i really think the 696 headlight in all black would look great on this.

I have to agree here. Other than that clean up the rear portion of the frame and it's awsome! Very nice job!  [thumbsup]  [clap] [clap] [clap]

Oh, and paint the belt covers, and ...........

It will never be done. Trust me on this. You'll always find something else that will look really cool and you will just have to do it.  ;)

Amazing build! A friend of mine who owns a Duc Monster sent me a link to this thread, very cool indeed!

The only thing I would change is the headlight (as mentioned by some above)... here is a few I would consider:

https://www.europeanstreetfighter.com/index.php?page=product&ID=187
(they have lots of other ones on that site, most them imported from Germany, where it all happens :)).

or this gixxer K4 headlight and custom made mini-fairing (it's a shop in France, but they'll ship to the US):
http://kmp.fr/index.php?page=catalogue&menu=1&statut=neuf&rubrique=6&num=2

I actually had used both of these on previous Yamaha FZ6 projects:

the Phantom IV:

The gixxer K4 + custom fairing:

Other than that, you did a really great transformation... from a somewhat ugly (flames go ahead!) bike to an aggressive looking street fighter!  [beer] very cool.

Thanks for the suggestions, but the headlight is staying...I like it.  ;)

I did lower it though, and it looks much better.  :)

I agree, the light you have looks perfect.

I like the headlight, but otherwise agree with Tom. Do something with that frame and those belt covers...

This bike looks absolutely amazing.  Very, very nicely done.  Maybe paint the belt covers black but leave the DS1000 mark gray?  I think that would look cool.
Turn it off man, turn it off!  It's sucking my will to live!

DucatiTorrey

it'll look good no matter what.  [thumbsup]

Thanks everyone.  [thumbsup]

I do plan on painting the belt covers...it just has to quit raining.  :P

Frame is there to stay. I chopped it right behind the crossmember which holds down the rear cowl/seat. If I remove anymore frame there won't be anything to hold that down. It'll look better once the taillight is installed. Right now it's too open and exposed from behind.

I like it anyway...looks beefy.  ;D

Looks better with it lowered for sure [thumbsup] I believe it would look even better with a more OEM looking headlight, but that's just a matter of tastes...

How's the visibility at night? The projector looks like it's pointing upward?

Don't know. It's not hooked up yet, and hasn't been aimed properly. I want to get the bike started, and make sure everything works (stock headlight in particular) before I try to re-wire a new headlight in. Hopefully this weekend when the battery box is complete.
