Hell, so is the new bentley.

Anyone care to recommend a car that's actually, you know less than 15K as he asked for?

anything less than 15k and is new is going to be a piece of shit economy car.

the entry price on the yaris is 12k, add power windows and ABS and a fuel gage and it is over 15.  same on the micra and the rest of the lot.. elantra, etc.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

As far as I know the chassis' are slightly different. The G has a longer wheel base...

the G35 and the 350 are totally different cars, the only thing they share is the engine bottom end and the tranny bell housing..

the G36 i think shares the chassis with the 350, but the G35 is differernt

That's sort of the point-he wants mileage, and a warranty in the 15k range. I'm not sure why recommending things, that while nice, don't fill the requirements are any use. For those requirements, he gets a cheapy little car. Cue the Rolling Stones.

I'm commuting 35 miles each way to work now, and the Volvo sucks gas (literally), it has 116000 on the clock and is starting to fall apart so i figure it's time to upgrade.
i want something fun, and a warranty would be great! i figure I'm thinking in the $15,000 range

yes the land yachts are nice... but i'm staying the hell away from VW / Audi.

GF has a yaris - and you are correct, with Power things it's about 15k - but i don't want that, nor am i looking for a brand new car.
the volvo mileage sucks, i would be more than happy with 20mph-ish.

Right now a used G35 sounds pretty nice, but i'm still very open to suggestions.

honda fit http://autos.yahoo.com/2009_honda_fit_5_spd_mt/
35 mpg highway, good crash ratings, starting MSRP is 14.7 k, and it's a honda so run it until armageddon

do you like the volvo?

we have a 98 S70T5 that consistently gets about 18 city and 26 hiway with mid-grade gas.  maybe a later model volvo...  blue book on my 98 is $5000, so you can get a much newer one.

i've had 5 volvos, i love them

eh, i liked it at first, but after owning it for a couple years... i'm pretty bored with it.

my car gets about 13city and 23ish highway - sucks

it's got 114k on the clock and it's showing it's age pretty bad.

i was considering a C30 - but they seem to be out of my price range.

not true at all.  they are very similar cars with minor body mods and ecu changes to differentiate them aside from the dealer experience and warranties.

As far as used under 15K cars a quick search for passenger cars, under 15k, between 2003-2009 with under 50K miles returned these possibilities

2003-2004 Acura RSX and RSX Type S
2003-2004 Acura TL 3.2 and TL 3.2 Type S
2003-2004 Audi A4 1.8T and 1.8T quattro
2005         Audi A4 3.0
2003-2005 Cadillac CTS
2005-2008 Dodge Magnum
2006-2007 Ford Mustang
2005-2007 Honda Accord
2005         Lincoln LS
2005-2008 Mazda 3 or Mazda 6
2004-2005 Mazda RX-8
2005-2008 Nissan Altima (S, SL, SE)
2005-2006 Saab 9-3 2.0T
2003-2007 Subaru Impreza
2005-2007 Toyota Camry
2005-2008 Toyota Corolla
2004-2005  VW Golf Gti 1.8T
2005          VW Golf GTI VR6
2004          Volvo S40 2.4L
2004          Volvo S40 T5

Almost all of these offer room for 4, over 22 mpg highway and a modicum of performance.  Your options are wide and varied my friend.  How about choosing a few and asking for opinions/experiences with those models?

2005 S2R -- Mods installed: DP termi full racing kit, ST4 Forks, S4R rear shock, 999 Radial Brake and Clutch MCs, 4 pot Brembo Calipers, 320mm Snowflake rotors, SBK Quick change carrier, 43T rear sproket, Tomaselli Clip Ons, Cyclecat Frame Sliders, ASV Levers, zero indicators, Supernova taillight

I feel now would be a good time to ask if there is a budget for insurance and annual maintenance. This could sway things as well.
If the state had not cut funding for the mental institutions, this project could never have happened.

And here I'll push for the Mazda 3 again. This thing barely needs maintenance. Although, a simple belt change is a little more of a pain than it should be.

I'd agree, and also heavily suggest the Acura. But for a car that *has* to get you somewhere, reliably and inexpensively, fun is harder to come by.

Thats what the bike is for.
