So... has anybody here actually used Amsoil?  Have you noticed any differences?  Better?  Worse?  Worth it?  Thanks.

I did on my cruiser and my mechanic and I both think it's no better or worse than the full synthetics out there.  advertising is good though.

I know John (of John and Terry fame/now known as DucFever) really had his info down in regards to their Ducati oil filter. We talked about it a long time ago after an I'fratelli lunch. Twenty bucks says anyone who knows that much about their filters nows about their oil too. There was a thread about this on the old board. I think there was even talk of a group buy... ahhh, too long ago to remember the specifics. If you get no response try the general forum board or PM John.

Indeed!  Amsoil EaO filters are the best. as far as the oil goes it is definately a top tier oil but not really any better than the other top tier oils and after way to much time and energy researching both oil and filters I currently use the Amsoil EaOM138c Ducati filter with Mobile1 4t 10w40 oil (which is now available at Wal-Mart for $8.54/qt!.)
If you really want to get into the nitty gritty of it I can do that too just PM me (I do not want to start another oil shitstorm debate  Grin )

Pretty much use it exclusively on my Harley - oil (20w/50) and primary.  Tranny is another brand.  Has worked fine on the Harley, but have not yet used it on the Ducati.

Have used it exclusively for my cars also.  As someone mentions later, you order via email of phone and can have your order drop shipped to your house.

I use amsoil on both bikes and the car, have for years and years now.  I like it because I can just order straight from my guy in the hill country area and it drop ships straight to me

only reason I really like their products is because I know it's 100% synthetic every single time.  The product is consistent and the prices don't vary wildly and I can make one phonecall or send an email and he calls me back to verify and it's done.

Actually, I really have no idea how much I pay for the stuff because I only get a total bill and a shipping invoice without prices on it.  I can tell you that the last order I made I priced out on their online system was just over 300 bucks (with tax and shipping).  My actual charge calling my amsoil guy was 239 total.  That was for a case of oil and 8 different EAO filters

I buy Amsoil for my Kawi at Maxin Honda in Allen... its around $42 a gallon there. I like it ALOT better than the Mobile1... the Mobile1 seemed really thin when i was pouring it in and gave me some valve noise at higher temps. no issues with the Amsoil though... That and Repsol seem to have worked the best for me.

Do you have his contact info if you don't mind me asking. Currently I order online and would like to save a little myself. Thanks Hiero  chug

John

Incredible thread/posting.  Sad ending, however.  Looks like Mobil Racing 4T 10W-40 and Amsoil EaO filters are the ticket.  Thanks.

with Mobile1 4t 10w40 oil (which is now available at Wal-Mart for $8.54/qt!.)

i called a couple walmart supercenters and they were telling me they had no motorcycle of any kind.  what walmart were you getting yours from?

maybe i'll just order up again from eliteetc.com... it comes out to about 11.50/qt shipped for mobil 1 4T.  now to decide between 10-40 and 20-50....summer is coming up...

John - thanks a million for the information about this thread!  I went there and read more about oils and lubricants than I ever imagined there was to know.

On George's advice, I just had an oil change to Mobil 1 4T 10W-40 Racing oil - the change in my bike was astonishing!  Much smoother running and shifting - I mean HUGE!  I'm now enjoying my ST3 more than ever.  SO smooth.   [moto]

Oh, and I put the Amsoil filter in the bike, too.  Apparently, it's one of the finest filters made because of the filter element composition.

Next the front forks go to   bow down   Rick @ Cogent Dynamics.

Hope I can get all this done before my old body gets too creaky.  Undecided

Thanks again!

Pura vida!

My Wally World in McKinney carries a full line of FRAM (crap) M/C filters and oil. Funny story though, I actually called the Wal-mart while I stood in front of said filters and they told me over the phone "we don't carry M/C filters or oil, you need to go to a M/C dealer for those" I laughed and told them they better go check and hung up.  hard to find good help these days!
