Took a crow to the front of my left shoulder at 80mph on my 620 a couple of years ago. Thanks to the forward-leaning riding position it did not take me off the bkie, only sat me up straight. Felt about like a baseball. Friends in a car behind me siad the crow pretty much expolded into a cloud of feathers.

Weird to read about all these bird hits. Over the years I've dodged a few buzzards having a little roadside snack that were a little slow on lift off but I never thought one minute about a freaking gobbler. :P Glad no one else has had the pleasure of the big bird experience. Wonder if they make a grill guard for Ducatis? [laugh]

Funny thing about my wild animal "interface" was there were two friends on that Arkansas ride that were from Finland. I know one went back shortly after my accident, not sure if the other still lives here... he kind of disappeared after his friend went home. Anyway, while waiting on the air evac one of them went back up the road and snapped some pics of the two piece turkey. Those pics are probably posted somewhere in Finland as a warning to not ride in Oklahoma if you are ever visiting America!! [laugh]

I've nearly gotten a slow turkey with a school bus, but never on the bike ~

Must be that "Bird Flew" I keep hearing about.

Wach out for crow when riding next to a cornfield!!!

I killed a white owl on my way to work one morning (3:30am)
I was doing 110 and saw him dive at me (going after a rodent on the road ...or?)
I ducked/flinched and it probably saved me!
I (through my Joe Rocket jacket, shoulder pad, and two shirts underneath) got a huge bruise on my right shoulder/arm.
If it had hit my helmet I woud have been totally Fastwin'ed! (and that was before I even knew Brian)

A guy I work with came in a few minutes after me and asked me if I saw the big dead owl in the road on my way in...  [roll]

Damn Rich! I never heard that story before. That was a close call for sure and I am also sure it hurt like hell. Owls are not small birds. They are the same size as a red tail hawk... hech, they both are about the size of the turkey that I hit. Just for grins I went back on the old board and found the Fastwin vs Turkey thread. It's on page 30 or so, May 19, 2007. I haven't looked at the pics of the halved gobbler in a while. Made me appreciate the fact that I'm still around! [thumbsup] Dumbass bird!!! [bang] :P

I couldn't help but to think of this picture when I read this post. I hope this isn't one of you fella

I've hit/been hit so many birds, snakes, rodentia and a turtle(almost) that I have thought about applying the "confirmed kill" markers to my windscreen as a count. I am easily a Double Ace by now  ;D and luckily only have 2 broken fingers and a deep puncture wound/cracked ribs (one of the rare times I didn't have a jacket on) to show for it.

Nothing ever really fazed me, until I met up with Bambi in the Navarro Redwoods! By some weird intuition or sixth sense or whatever you wanna call it, I saw/felt something airborne and above me off the slanted hillside to my right. I did a racer crouch that would have made Ben Spies proud (way to go Ben in race 2  [thumbsup]) and the hooves of the damn thing smacked my helmet as it went over the top. I saw it in my mirror, it hit the ground out of whack but got right up and bounded off the road. My wingman saw the whole thing and thought we had just entered the twilight zone. Was a great topic for the rest of the day and every time we ride through there....

Exactly!  [thumbsup] There are actually sheets of them on the webz for sale... Just haven't found anything that I really wanna stick on my ride ya know? I was thinking of just putting a single one for each species of critter and then applying a small number overlay on each one to indicate the number of confirmed kills for that critter...
