Whats up with the ads lately saying how a Ducati Rep at a Ft Worth dealer says that Ducati doesn't care if it sells bikes in the states or not? I have seen them for the last week and a half...

Overheard at a Ft.Worth Ducati dealership recently,by one of their own factory employees & I quote,"we could care less if we sell motorcycles in the U.S.or not"Gotta kinda feel sorry for all those folks who shelled out their hard earned family money for a bike built by people who would just as soon take a dump on this country.Feel free to stifle my free speech,it keeps it top posted, thanks!

Considering that the US alone accounts for more than half of ducati's sales, I believe this person is full of shit.

Probably some resented kawasaki rider or something.

Hey now...   Angry

My guess is that it was someone who wanted to buy one but couldnt afford it... so he's trying to single handedly ruin the duc market in the area so he can find a cheap used one

Speaking of, I was over at eximports the other day, and some kid (looked like 16) was there looking over the R1's with his girlfriend. I went over to talk to him and the exchange went like this:

Me: Hey man what's up? First bike?

Bag of douche: Yeah

M: That's kinda powerful for a first bike, it's kinda dangerous

BOD: Not when do the things I do, I'm into power.

I just kinda looked at him and burst laughing, turned and left.

Perhaps instead of laughing at him you should have suggested the MSF class and responsible riding

If I offer someone advice once and he won't take it, I refrain from doing so any further. Specially if said person responds in such an insulting manner.

I will stand between a person and ignorance, I refuse to stand between someone and his own stupidity.

I like that, can I use it if I credit you for saying it? And no, I won't pay royalties. laughingdp

I've had my saleman friends at Action Kawasaki/Suzuki tell me they have tried to talk similar macho dumbasses out of buying Busas, GSXR1000s, ZX14s, etc. but usually have no luck. I think the management has a "screw it, sell them what they want" semi murderous attitude. It's hard to turn away a $12K SBK sale and make a $7,000 SV650 sale when you are on commission in this sh#tty economy. There is also the mindset if they crash it and survive they will bring it back for repairs or if they total it and live maybe they will come back and buy another one.

Some days I wonder when the gov't. will get on board with other countries and have the tiered bike size/age/experience licensing. It's either that or make someone take the MSF course before buying a bike or applying for the bike classification on their drivers license. Until then we can't count on smart, reasonable, safe people always buying bikes... it always falls back to natural selection. Tongue

Don't take what I posted the wrong way.   waytogo

Text is bad way to convey emphasis.  It just read to me like a 16yr old looking at a cool bike.  No need to laugh at another (potential) rider.

Oh well, that's what I get for posting while working.    bang head

Sorry I guess I misinterpreted your post as well.

The kid was obviously buying, and I'm usually a pretty moderate guy, it's just stupid tools that incite my asshole reaction
