HD riders have Sturgis for a week. Why don't we Ducatisti have our own national event? Roads would have to be a main consideration to ride on. The town would have to offer something to Ducatisti...art, entertainment, racing, fashion, food, drink, ops for rides etc. Let's have an all incompasing week-long gathering at say...Taos, N.M., or Durango, Co., or some place like that? Make it in the center of the country so more people can come. Stage races, track day, vintage races, concourse, Ducati Island, training classes anything that would be interesting and fun to do. I'd love to see an event that the Ducati Factory Racing Team / Corse could get involved in. They could roll out the new line for next year's models and such.  Get some name brand music to perform. Have an art/photog exhibit.
Jeepers, I could go on.

Discuss anyone?

Yep, New Mexico seconded  laughingdp

About 3 or four years ago Ducati North America sponsored The Monster Challenge.  It was part of the IMS traveling show as it made its way across the US.  Tons of fun and it did 99% of what you're suggesting, Red.  I know by the second or third year, though, there were not enough entries to make it viable so the whole idea was abandoned.

I could definitely see the need for something like this to return on an annual basis.  The Monster Challenge was factory supported and brought the Ducati "experience" not just to people who had never heard of the brand, but to owners who appreciated the recognition and camaraderie from the factory.  Goodwill all 'round  Wink

Needs to happen again.  Annual Ducati pilgrimage to Taos sounds about right  Evil

For those that don't venture out of the local board... there is always DiTR (Ducati in the Rockies) every year in Ouray, Co and the DMF is planning a West coast DIMBY (Ducatis in my back yard)  DIMBY ths past fall was in New Hampshire at ducpainter's place.  The West coast one for this coming spring is at River's locale in SoCal (IIRC)

dont we have annual pilgrimages to great places to ride? h/c or ark? why not just get them to come ride some of our fine roads instead of having to go to theirs. IMO those folks in cali are crazy. not sure about the east coast though never ridden over there. maybe when i go to my in-laws my wife will still let me take the monster and i can report back. worst case we could just go see the LYD. you know how much fun he is to be around. i don't know if west virginia would be ready for this group.

Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe.

That would really be something.  It's usually in the Fall.  Last year I think they had close to 200 Guzzi from all over the place... Just ripe for an invasion - let's do it  Evil

I smell the Tail of the Dragon at LYD's.  The problem with this trip is that it needs to be done mid-week.  Weekends there are absolutely ridiculous with traffic and COPS galore.  So many places to ride there, even better than Ouray/Durango IMO.  Although Colorado offers great roads the Elk are like Armadillos there and scary as hell on the side of the road.

hmmm whats that???

And you're right.. there are a TON of nice roads around there. And Weekdays are definitely better. Less traffic, less commotion.. and hotels are easier to come by
