is that  the 405 freeway in LA at rush hour?  no wait a minute is that the 10 freeway? and downtown LA in the background

its the US i think based on all the suv's and the rectangular license plates.

Looks like an exit for Sydney.

Mmmmmm.  Splitting is so tempting sometimes, despite the legal issues.  I'd like to see more bikes on the road too, but just think how many of those people you WOULDN'T want to see on a motorcycle (or in any vehicle for that matter).  Cool pic, btw.
We're liberated by the hearts that imprison us.  We're taken hostage by the ones that we break.

i was thinking the same thing - it looks like the other side of the road is flowing (or at least has room to be).

neat pic either way

I've always wondered how that worked.  How fast is LA traffic moving?  5 mph?  10?  And how fast can you split?  25?  Can you use the shoulder legally?

sugarcrook

I can't speak for LA, but commuting in the Bay Area, my general guideline is only split if traffic's moving 45mph or less and never faster than 15mph over traffic speed.

I think its LA too, but it reminds me of the 80 heading south toward Emeryville & Oakland.
