Who insures the FDIC?

Porsche Monkey

That's a lot of money for that bike imo.

I love the 60K cayman in the background parked in an apartment complex..... [laugh]

Not a "collector's item"; they made a lot of them.  Its priced at what its worth; you can get a '02 620 for 4k.

Maybe not a collectors item but pretty rare in the states.  It might be worth 3500 but I wouldn't pay more than 2k for something like that.  It'd be a novel albeit expensive to maintain commuter bike.

I'd like to ride one of those lil 400's. It might be fun. Like a big scooter. I wonder if a burgman 650 is faster?

I rode a burgman 400 and had it up to 100mph.  It took me 4 tries.  LOL  8500rpm.   It was suprisingly stable and comfortable on the  highway.  Aside from looking like a big nerd I liked riding it.

I am really curious what a 400 monster would be like.  I've never ridden a 620, 750 or 800 though either so who knows.

I would not pay that either.  The title of the post was a bit of sarcasm.  If I want a 400 monster ill just buy an m800 and take off a coil lol.

I'd buy it for $2500 in a heart beat.  What's the difference between the 400 and 600 motors besides the pistons?  I've seen a 600 upgrade kit in the DP catalogue for the 400 motors, so I'd guess they're pretty similar (case size, etc.).

If one pops up here locally I would consider buying it.

Rare in the States for sure.

I've got one. I love it.

And, probably the only DMFer with one.

It's my everyday commute bike here in Japan. It's an 03 Carb'd dark in matte silver with dual, 4 pots up front. Once I bring her back, she'll still be my commute bike and I think I'll even track her for fun. I won't go fast. But, I really don't care.

I paid about $3000 for mine here (with a decent exchange rate). In comparison, the S4 they had equated out to about $9000.

It weighs about the same as a 600. Power is smooth. I don't really test the top speed as even expressways here top out at 100kph. It's fun to open up. Makes for a great commute bike. Winds through the twisties with ease. Coming out of corners, I get to roll on a lot of throttle. And, it's just enjoyable. I want to bring it back. Not for resale value (although, I think I could probably get what I paid for it, minus a bit of depreciation). But, just because it's unique. But unique only to those that actually know. Not unique in looks.

I know, I'm just odd. Some people ride a fast bike slow. Some ride a slow bike fast. Me, I ride a slow bike slow.

Big Troubled Bear

There were a few for sale here in the early 2000`s, actually rode one, feels like a 600 with less torque, even saw one with a ducati big bore kit, 540 cc if I remember correctly.

They sell for equivilant of 2 - 3 K US
Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.

Need to get ahold of a M400 frame then put a testastretta in it with all the s4rs parts.  It would be an insurance stealth vehicle.

I am double jealous that you have one and that you live in Japan  :-\
