Stella and I have signed up with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training Program to raise money to end blood cancers.

We will be participating in America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride, a 100-mile jaunt around scenic Lake Tahoe on June 7, 2009.  Yes, we will be pedaling the entire distance!!  :o

Each of us need to raise $4,200 to do so.  We understand that the economy has tightened up spending for a lot of people, but even a small donation will  go a long way.

Below are the pages you can visit to make a donation in either Stella's or my name.

Thanks so much for your consideration!

Dad was diagnosed with CML 5 years ago.  Good luck with the century!!

P.S.- I split up the donations so the battle was a little more even.  I'm voting on the lady getting to $4200 first  ;D

You, my dear are awesome!  Thank you from both of us!   We just got done with our first group training ride this morning.  It was a brisk 20-something when we started and warmed up to 31 by the time we finished.   The best part is always the Guinness that follows but today it was the note that you had made a donation so again:  Thank you!  <insert pedaling smiley icon>

Hey DMFers!

We are three weeks into the training program!

Week One saw us riding around Wash Park in Denver is 25-30 degree temps.  Yes, a bit on the chilly side, but we rode for about 15 miles.

Week Two ride followed a snow shower that blanketed the region with 3-4 inches of snow and a little ice in spots.  We delayed our start a bit and managed to ride about 15-20 miles on some wet and occasionally icy roads.

Week Three ride was yesterday.  Finally some nicer weather in Denver.  About 40 degrees and sunny.  We rode about 30 or so miles (not counting Stella and I's 3-mile sprint to make the light rail to the ride location in the morning).

We just found out yesterday that two of our fellow riders from the Denver Chapter both lost their fathers to Leukemia in the last five years.

In addition, two of the riders in our group (including our assigned mentor) are both cancer survivors, much in part to the research that LLS and the Team in Training program funds.

Both of us are very grateful to those who have already made donations.  We're are both on our way to reaching our fundraising goals.  However, we still have a ways to go.

We both realize that the economy is in the shitter and times are tough for many.  If you can, please help us out.  Even a small donation helps!!

25 F training runs? Ya'll are hardcore!  [bow_down]
I used to be a cyclist. Riding in weather like that literally used to hurt my lungs.

I'll pass on pics of your azz in a pair of those shorts.

I don't care if it's Christy Turlington wearing them..they don't do sh*t in the looks dept.  They might feel good sitting on that bike seat for a few dozen miles but if you want to wear something that looks like you too a dookmode in 'em..    :-X

One particular day of riding in Boulder, CO (where I work and where 95% of the population are cyclists and the other 5% live in tents down by the river), I was pedaling through town and one of the 5%-ers ran up to me, or rather staggered quickly considering the state he was in and tried to push me off the road/off my bike screaming "SPANDEX GOT NOBODY NOWHERE!!"    It was pretty funny.    ;D

I think Randy and I saw those people on the way to lunch from your workplace...

Gonna be donating to both of you in equal amounts (can't let Randy's ego get too far out of control) in the next day or two.

I do the Light the Night walk each year for Leukemia and Lymphoma. My grandparent's neighbor (great lady and always fun to chat with) has been battling Leukemia for a while now but things recently took a turn for the worse and she is on borrowed time. I dedicate my walks to her.
