Watching Letterman last night, he seemed a little 'altered' - there may be some self-medication goin' on with Mr. Phoenix.  But I guess he could just be make the beast with two backsing with everyone.  He did say that he wanted to become a Hip-Hop artist...  

I really like his performances in movies - Walk the Line and Gladiator are two of my all-time faves.

honestly, if you ever have read about david letterman shows, nothing is "spontaneous" on the show, supposidely, during the day, they actually go over everything and rehearse the entire show practically, so this was rehearsed.

the interview was funny bc letterman was tryign to make jokes, and joachin was playing the "straight man" part the entire time with the whole "yes, no" answers the entire time which is the complete oppoosite of every letterman guest and i guess that is the "joke" of the interview.  afterall if he is acting like he doesn't want to be an actor anymore, how better to do that than not "act" like an actor and talk like crazy but give 1 word answers.

i think pheonix is a weird dude but i think it was a staged "straight guy/joke guy" routine.

I worked at the show once, they ran through it without Letterman. They had someone else kind of read his parts. He showed up just before the show.

When we did the Conan O'Brien show, Conan went over everything and decided on what to use. Man, there was some funny shit that they chose not to use.

I still don't know what to make of it all. If this is some "social experiment" does it include the unbelievably bad K-fed like rapping?

R2, did you see celebrities just showing up themselves? I would think they would have handlers. What kind of handler would let someone interview in that state?
