Author Topic: Alarms that text when tripped  (Read 1669 times)

I've been doing a lot of searching for my "ideal" alarm system for my 696. I've read about the Scorpio and Talon on this board, but I'm looking for something more. Are there any alarm systems that have perimeter AND tilt sensors AND have the ability to text your cell phone when they go off?

I like the Scorpio system, but I don't want to rely on a 2-way pager that most likely won't work when I'm inside giant concrete buildings at university. I have seen GPS units that will text you via cell-phone network and allow you to track your bikes location if it moves beyond a certain perimeter or once the bike starts moving, but that means you are only alerted once someone has successfully stolen your bike then it's your job to track them down.

Is it asking too much for a system that will be able to chirp and set off the alarm from perimeter and tilt sensors and text me so I can run out guns blazing before they get my bike on a truck?

Sounds pricey...

I'd simply keep up on Insurance payments.

Yeah, if the insurance will actually give you the full cost of the bike, that's nice and all... but it's a hassle. First, you lose your bike, have to file a report, find another ride home, go buy another bike and start all over with the break-in and the modding.

I think it would be much easier to just stop the theft in the first place and not deal with all the extra crap. Sound crazy? If money was a big issue, I wouldn't be riding a brand new 696.

jeez. If i had a DUI, my insurance would sky rocket to the point where i could afford a taxi cab to school everyday. (im $570 liability only 25/50) I remember my first quote on my bike for full coverage. some crazy number like $4500 per year. with max deductible.  I quoted myself on a 749...well...lets just say the monster isnt even a sportbike class and the 749 is.

I have a great record, and farmers uses foremost insurance, they quoted me $650 for 6 months on collision!
