Does the M696 have a helmet lock under the seat? I've looked, but I can't seem to find it.

If it doesn't, is there an aftermarket helmet lock available?

It'd be nice not to have to carry my helmet around wherever I go.

I'm guessing it's the same kind of "helmet lock" that came with my S2R.  Look in the underseat storage compartment.  If there's a little piece of cable with a loop on each end - that's the hightech Ducati helmet lock.  Handy in a pinch I guess.  I saw Grio's lock that she mounted to her frame and ordered one to do the same,  but unfortunately the pipe diameter on the S2R frame is wider than on the M900.  I ended up mounting it to the handlebar.  Very happy with it though.

You can just make it out in the bottom left corner of this pic:

I used the "helmet lock" once. Right as the seat popped when I unlocked it, the helmet fell to the ground and a piece chipped off. BOOO  bang head
The cable doesn't seem like it wants to stay in those hooks.

I have a long orange coiled cable that came with my disk brake lock... you know, the reminder that you have that thing on there... Well, it's as thick (if not thicker) than the helmet lock cable, so i use that . It's handy because i can run the long coiled cable down through a sleeve on my expensive leather jacket, out the sleeve, back up, through the helmet and lock it tight. Let's me feel safe during the rare times i leave my gear on my bike. Does it take a couple minutes? Yea. But i'd rather spend a bit of time, than another ~$600 bucks on a helmet and jacket.
