A friend named my 01 S4 Lemonade (it was yellow), which I actually kinda liked:)  But alas Lemonade will be no longer, she is getting some new duds-well and probably a new name:)

My wife named my S2R1K 'Kat', since my wife's pet name is Kitty. I like my women to have things in common

98 m900 sold, Red 696

I have a 190 BHP Yamaha R1 as a track bike that gets raced in our regional championship by a very talented youngster, so when the red 696 replaced my old "Silver dream machine" M 900, my 3 year old son named it the "Red Number One" yes that`s how he pronounces Yamaha.

My wife just refers to all 2 wheeled machines as Money pits Grin

"Scout" was my first bike.  Seca II - 600 cc's of turdiness!!!  She was a GREAT starter bike, and taught me what a bike should have (by showing me what she didn't).  Stupidly, traded her in on the ducati, and have found times it would have been nice to have a cheap bike that anyone could ride.

the S2R never was named, and yes I lost her before 2 years.  Maybe your theory is correct!!  It was difficult to quantify her - she was strong, beautiful, I loved her dearly (does that make me gay??) but she defied a name.  Didn't know anyone those traits.

Now have a BMW tourer, and she's just the beemer, cause she's lacking in personality.

just picked up a 1975 Yahama XS 650.  She's gonna be a cafe racer (hopefully by this summer), and OH YEAH!!! she's gonna get a name!!!  This thing's got personality (and then some).

hubby's first POS was called Wanda.  1982 virago 1000 cc's of 'balls to the walls' or nothing.  Fickle!!

hubby's current bike is Athena.  2002 Warrior and she's a beauty!!!  1600 cc's of thrust, beautiful throaty voice, and looks to knock your sock off!!

yeah, bikes should be named.  They all have personalities, and we like their quirks.

My 1978 Honda Hawk is The Angry Mosquito due to the exhaust note sounding like a roid-raged insect...

My Monster just finally got named last week  Grin After two years of nicknames but no real name it suddenly hit me...

"Apollonia" '06 S2R 800

« Reply #54 on: April 27, 2009, 04:04:19 PM »

I call her Apollonia.

In "The Godfather", when Michael is exiled to Sicily, he one day meets a woman.  This is a woman who is so beautiful, so sensual, that he is immediately "thunderstruck", a common Sicilian term for the wanting, the needing, to possess a woman, to be with her body and soul.  He asks around town and finds out the girls name...Apollonia... Vino!

BTW the book, even with the movie being so freakin' good, the book is soooooo much better!

Most of my guitars are named after women I have either known or know personally (Alicia, Trixie, Rachel, Sunni, Kristina, Melissa, Katie).  The cars just get names that fit (Bettie, Roxanne, Izabella).
My first bike was called, of course, Suzi.  She was a '81 Suzuki GS 650.  Great learner.

My S4 is (I believe), #37 in a long line of sleds that I have owned.  I've never named any of my bikes, I don't get attached to them, I just beat the crap out of them, and either sell them or throw them away.  They're just motorcycles.  There is always another one that I want next (S4RS, Hypermotard, RC-51, ZX-10, KTM Superduke, KTM Supermoto, the list goes on and on).  Right at the moment, there is the Ducati, the Yamaha (YZ450F), and the Honda (CBR900RR, but my brother is buying that).   Even if I did name them, I wouldn't cop to it.  That is just soooo........Goober.

Actually my brother named it when I was having electrical problems.  "Is that piece of sh_t running yet?"  "Maybe you should throw some more money at it".

97 m900 is Meatball
77 cb550 is Vinny (Vintage)
03 600rr (track bike) is Black White Trash.  The bike is black and the previous owner had skulls and tried to polish the frame and swing arm so i can only assume the he is one of those kick-ass white trash rednecks...
