Financing Promotions in '09

Anyone heard if Ducati is going to offer any financing promotions in '09?

At this point, it's anybody's guess.   I'm not aware of any market incentives being offered directly from Ducati NA right now. 

Frankly, Ducati didn't have much trouble selling bikes last year, so it's not like they've got inventory laying around.  I wouldn't expect DNA to come out with a "$2000 off or 0% for 60 months" deal anytime soon.

That said, your local dealer may be quite willing to negotiate.  If you're in the market for a new bike, it would definitely be worth asking for free shipping+setup, some free accessories (helmet, etc.), and/or inclusion of your first maintenance visit.  Ask around, gauge their inventory levels, and you might even find that they have some '08 holdover bikes, too -- you should be able to do some serious negotiation on one of those.

Ducati may not be having problems, but the dealers sure are. I was recently in a big retailer in Arizona and they were still pushing an S4RS Tricolore for $17,500 out the door - 

That was crazy to me - especially since this particular retailer is only keeping business from thier service center.

Absolutely. 

But it's always nice to get a discount or rebate, if it's available to cash buyers.

I am excited to get a Ducati this spring. I am looking for a Monster s4R, s4Rs, or multistrada.   If I can finance, why not.  Who really has 10k laying around.

motorcycles are fragile critters.    It is very easy to get yourself into a situation where your bike is worth very little and is unusable, and you still owe the bank for the loan.

Not trying to discourage Duc ownership at all....just know going in that you can easily be 'upside down' in your loan the minute you take the keys.

If you are new to riding, take some time to poke around here.   Lots of long-time riders looking to share their experiences.  Most will say to save up and buy a used 620 to ride for a year or so.

The bikes you listed are quite dissimilar (one of these things is not like the other one)...what kind of riding are you looking to do primarily?

Also...realize where I'm coming from...I'm fiscally conservative.   If you don't have 10K in your emergency oh shit fund, a new 10K Ducati is a frivolity.

On the flip side, if I'd only invested my 401K money in a D16 six months ago, I'd be a lot richer now

Overall Ducati's sales were down in '08 compared to '07 . I know the Dealer where I get my bikes has got '08s of most all models if not all.

I don't know what he is going to do. He is new to the business and I don't know how deep his pockets are.

He has to pay interest while those '08s sit there and collect dust over the Winter which has been especially bad here in Ohio with the weather and the terrible Economy.  Dolph
