got my custom gp can in.  stainless, rolled tip, 54mm inlet to match the leo vince 2-1 collectors i bought. 

doesn't look too shabby, much slimmer than the fat leo vince cans and it's really loud.  when i was running without the muffler it was tolerable.  but now even when i'm cruising in a low gear it really rattles my ear drums.  i plan on installing the spark headers i bought off another member tomorrow afternoon.  PC3 will be purchased in a couple weeks.

how do i polish it?  i'd love to have the finish match, even more so since it isn't matching the midpipes i have.

I like the size of the new one better but the angle on the leo vince CF can better though.  Seems to follow the line of the tail better.

Are you saying it's louder with a muffler than without?

at idle, no.  without the muffler it was a little more high pitched but at speed it got drowned out by the wind.  with the muffler it's obviously muffled while idling, but when the engine is under load the wind doesn't drown the sound out.  it's literally painful when i ride under 50mph and i've had to put in ear plugs when i normally don't.

Wait until you get the mid pipes, it will be bone crushing loud.  Although i haven't taken measurements yet (I will include my initial Leo Vince review below from TOB), I figure the mid pipes brought the volume up to around 90db.  When this dam snow melts off the road I will measure it.

Leo Vince S2R800 Ti Slip on install first impressions

I received my Leo Vince Ti slip on from Bayside Performance last week and today was the install day.

Purchase - Wanted carbon but none available for at least 6 weeks. They had the Ti in stock so I took it. Bayside spent sometime with me on the phone and delivered as promissed. Pricing was competitive and the fact they are located in Canada is a nice touch too. Check out http://www.baysideperformance.comfor details.

Product - Everything was in the box, not a part missing. A real bonus is they included a carbon exhaust shield for your right heal (I will post pics when the bike is clean and there is no snow on the ground ). This seems to be a new addition as this is the first I have heard or seen of it. Most people add an aftermarket one, mine came with...bonus. It also comes with the necessary passenger peg extentions.

Fit and finish - Quality of the welds and mounting brackets are top notch. 1/4" clearances at the turn signal and under the passenger peg. Great attention to detail, I was pleasantly surprised.

Installation - Very easy. As these are slip ons you simply take the old one off and put the new 2-1 collector pipe on the utter and slip on the muffler. Took less then an hour start to finish being very careful. I could do it in 15min now.

Sound - Before I took the stock pipes off I took out the trusty SPL meter and took some measurements, I also took measurements with the stock pipes off running only the utter and the new pipe with the baffle removed. All measurements were taken from the same location relative to the bike and the bike was parked in the same location each time. I tried to keep as much as I could consistent.

Here is how they compare, all measurements were taken at idle:

Stock:
5' from bike on right side 80db
5' from behind bike 82db
SPL meter placed on seat 88db

No pipes at all
5' from bike on right side NA
5' from behind bike NA
SPL meter placed on seat 100db

Leo Vince
5' from bike on right side 85db
5' from behind bike 87db
SPL meter placed on seat 92db

At idle they are louder and deeper sounding than stock. As there is still snow on the ground and can't give you a "how they sound from the bike" perspective, but bringing it up to 6k sure sounds good. I have heard a set of Zards so I will compare them to that as far as volume goes. If Zards are a 10 and a Goldwing is a 1 I would rate the stock system as a 5 and the Leo Vince as a 7. Very neighbour friendly, just be gentle.


The weight difference is as follows:
Stock pipes including all hardware and heat shield: 14lbs 3oz
Leo Vince slip on including all hardware and heat shield: 6lbs 14oz

Test ride - With snow in the driveway getting out for a rip would have been a stupid idea.

I took off the passenger pegs/brackets and installed the spark mids.  jesus, i'm beginning to think that putting this together was a bad decision.  i had my neighbors looking out of their windows and some even came outside to see what was causing that racket.  not to mention i set off the car alarm next to my parking space every time.  i might have to walk my bike in and out of the lot.

hahaha, I love how the car alarms go off when you ride past.  There's a narrow road near my house with cars parked on either side, and if I ride through with the revs up I set off a whole bunch of alarms. I like to think of it as applause

thanks.  yeah, i'm pretty considerate about my neighbors... mainly because i don't want them to get pissed and kick over my bike because it's too loud or whatever.

Can dimensions:

length - 300mm
inlet diameter - 54mm
not sure about outer diameter.
