Peter Gabriel wrote and sang the theme song to Wall-e. Great song. Apparently he lost, I didn't stay up for that part...

All in all I though it was a very well thought out evening of entertainment compared to the usual Awards show.

I didn't realize Hugh Jackman was such a talent.

Of course I was disappointed when Mickey didn't win the "Big One. "

Mickey had won the best male Actor in the Golden Globes , The SAGS, the British equivalent to the American Oscars and the Spirit Awards held on Saturday night.

Also in a public poll taken on air before the Oscars during the Red Carpet event Mickey garnered at least 3 % more votes than Senn as the top vote getter for the " Best Actor " Award.

I believe the issue w, Peter Gabriel was that the Music Director of the Awards wanted to" compress " the songs in Peter's category and Peter wasn't down with that.    Dolph

I was kinda bummed that Slumdog won so much for political reasons (it's basically a Horatio Alger story and the kids who starred in the film were paid paltry sums and still live in the slums, despite the box office grosses). It's a far cry from Best Picture, 1940 -- John Ford's The Grapes of Wrath.

I'm really happy Harvey Milk is a household name again. I have been teaching about him for the better part of a decade and now my students know before we get into it. As much as I loved RDjr in Tropic Thunder, comedies rarely ever win oscars (except Gladiator). Ledger was phenomenal.
