So I escaped for a long weekend trip to my hometown in the Pacific NW to visit my family & friends.  And  I even snuck in some time to get my fix...

I gravitated to Ducati Seattle (where I bought my scoot a few years back) to say hi to Dave R (GM) and company.  I just came in to drool a little and shoot the shit, but couldn't resist the offer to take an M1100S out on a sunny Seattle day.

I capped off the weekend with a trip to Red Mill Burgers for, hands down, the best burger in Seattle.  And yes, that is a fortress of bacon on the grill.   bow down bacon

Oh and if you've never been up that way, it really is a beautiful city.  Here's a pic I snapped from Kerry Park overlooking downtown with the Space Needle and Mt. Rainier off in the distance.

If you hadn't posted a picture I would have thought you just made it all up.

"sunny seattle day" is almost an oxymoron this time of year.

So how was the test ride?

When I say this, I mean it in the nicest possible way: I hate you.

Sounds like a great weekend! Thanks for the pics.  chug

I think the moto Gods really wanted me to ride that day.

I didn't get it out of the city, but the bike was easy to ride around downtown.  With so much power in comparison to my little scoot, the bike felt very light--actually, as I was chatting with Dave, we think it really is lighter than the 620 on paper.  I'm sure someone will come along to confirm that...

The power band felt very smooth and seemed to rev a lot quicker than my 620.  The suspension felt great even with the city's potholes, but being trapped in metropolis, I wasn't able to experience what the Ohlins can really do.  The clutch pull felt light, but engages a lot sooner than on my bike.  The gauges are easy to read and the stock mirrors actually have a solid view of what's behind.

I got tons of looks around town and the bike really is sexier in person--I did not find this bike attractive when I first saw pics.  Something about the "S" really gets my eye.  I think it's the gold wheels/forks.  Regardless, I pretty much walked backwards staring at it after parking it and heading back inside the dealership.

I think my little 620 needs a friend.  Hmm... Evil

Dammit...I didn't even see that one coming!  Tongue

Although that does sound like a good use of tax refund money.

At least you're going to get a decent tax return.

My measly $40 tax return was just enough to get me 1 dinner.  bang head

Cool pix.

So the whole rainy cloudy MYTH of seattle is just that.  Everytime I've been to Seattle, the weather was nicer than it was in the SF Bay Area.
