nah i wasn't being a cock on the ride, cos I usually pass a few cops down that particular stretch of road. Dunno what his issue was. Oh I forgot to tell you, after he gave me that stern talking to he, rode off and came to a T junction where he could only turn left since it had a median strip in between the two sides of the road, so then he turns right up the footpath and rides along there til he got to a road where he could turn right...
Heh!! He dont have to obey the law cos HE IS the Law !!

i'm fighting the urge to air my opinion on the fuzz............
but, the golden rule is simple, DENY! DENY! DENY!
SAY NOTHING INCRIMINATING! NOTHING! tell him that's how you bought it, shrug your shoulders and act completely ignorant.
and if you get pulled for speeding never, EVER admit to exceeding the limit, they will try all sorts of tactics in conversation to get the vaguest admission that you were doing something they want you to say you did. (notice i'm not saying you did anything at all, cause you didn't! did you?)
more often than not they don't have the required minimum of evidence and require your "admission" to cement their justification for issuing a ticket. It's a game for these jokers and if you're smart enough to play it and not give them what they need on the roadside, chances are you're smart enough to hire a solicitor to fight their flimsy justification in court and win, so they will glare, frown and tut tut, but they'll also send you on your way.
paul.
p.s, i in no way condone breaking the law in any way. speed limits are in place for our safety and not for extorting road tax in any way!

He actually rode on the footpath? A mate of mine got pinged for riding on the footpath to enter into a servo. He entered 1 driveway too early as the traffic had banked up from the intersection. He travelled 3m on the footpath! Don't u wish you had a video camera to get this sort of thing on tape!

I'd have to agree with Loony888.
My son did some silly things with his mates (burnouts) and got reported.
He was asked to show up at the local police station and I foolishly told him that telling the truth always pays off. So he admitted to doing the burnout and was very sorry. Result was a $380 fine and loss of points.
His mates advised the police to take "sex and travel" (aka f off) and they got away Scott free. I was appalled and headed down to the station to have a chat, but unfortunately they simply advised he admitted to the offence and they had no option but to fine him - Bull I say. They could have given him a warning and told him to grow up.
I paid the fine for him but couldn't obviously take to points - bottom line,
silence is GOLD
.
I strongly believe that they are instilling the wrong behaviour in all of us - surely we all stuff up at some time (brain fart) and should be given the benefit of the doubt every now and then.

I totally agree. I also own a Nissan 180sx with a few "minor" modifications and a few years go I think I got a record of 4 defects in one year.. it was a joke.. the defects were not even for anything illegal... apparently my rear spoiler can chop people in half... after they fly over the bonnet and roof into it. and my stock standard steering wheel was obviously aftermarket... ( apparently boss kits can be well disguised..) oh and it was always to low.. and my pod filter even though it had the bracket and was installed by an authorised workshop was illegal.. every time i'd take it over the pits and pay the 50 bucks to rip the canary off.. nothing illegal. I really want to mod my monster.. but its story's like the above and my own experiences with my cage that im loathe to do so

And at the "Island" last weekend the Plods were all anal about fender eliminators !
From what I could gather there was virtually NO emphasis on actual safety related mechanical defects.
Pull 'em over, book 'em, and take photos appeared to be the order of the day !
Harrasment ?? You betcha !!
Doesnt seem worth dragging their hairy arses away from the coffee and donuts does it??
Changing tack though, one of the Bike Officers bit the dust on Friday night (fatal). Dont know the details but you dont like to see anyone on a bike go down.
I'm not sure, but I think it was the only bike fatality of the weekend !!
So much for the rest of us antisocials riding in inappropriate ways and risking injury??

maybe Mr. Plod wasn't riding to the "conditions"? or maybe the numerous "modifications" made to his bike combined with "poor judgement" and "inappropriate speed" were to blame?
hey, who knows, and dragonworld is right, it's never good to see anyone die on a bike, i wonder if his colleagues were as keen to issue a road safety message on the evening news with his bike mangled in the background?
and sincerely, condolences to his family, his _real_ family, not the blue one.

Absolutely Paul, and it just goes to show that no matter who you are and how much training you have, you have a lapse and make an error of judgement you can get bit and bit hard.
Just because you have this training also doesnt mean you can get complacent!
Not saying this is what happened to the Cop, but sometimes all those lights, sirens and headlight etc, makes the human think they are "noticed" and therefore will be given way to.
You can never forget the dropkick in the car is a potential handgrenade with a loose pin, and the road might not be in optimal condition
