How does the new format work again?  I've forgotten already.  Fastest 20, then fastest 10?

Edit:  Yes, Dan and I share a brain.  Or a third of one at least.

How does superpole work?

3 sessions, 12 minutes each.

session 1 starts with the fastest 20 qualifiers from the previous combined qualy sessions.

at the end of session 1, the slowest 4 are eliminated and comprise positions 17-20 on the grid.

at the end of session 2, the slowest 8 are eliminated and comprise positions 9-16 on the grid.

the final session produces positions 1-8 on the grid.

I'm pretty shocked by that, given that its a new bike.  Then again, doesn't Corser hold the lap record?  I thought I read that somewhere and was surprised to see it (cuz Bayliss holds 'em all.  Or should).

I figured the priller would be close, but the BMW would be back there behind the Kawis.  If both the BMW and the 'priller have the juevos to run up front, this year is gonna be awwwwwsummmm.

Hey derb, you know what they're doing for tires?  Running qualifiers good for 1-2 laps or specially designed ones that will last for 10?

corser's track record is a 1'31.826 set in '07. bayliss set the pole record the same weekend with a 1'31.887.

for reference, melandri owns the motogp track record of 1'30.332 (set in '05) to hayden's pole record of 1'29.020 (set in '06).

It's very cool to see all 7 mfg's in the top 20 (admittedly kawa is barely in there).

I'm super excited to see both BMW and Aprilia in the top 8. Can't wait till the racing starts :-)

Of course I wish I could pay to see the qualifying live on line... that's the only thing motogp has on sbk right now, is that I can watch it online live.

Woot!

BTW, I'm so confused by this whole Superpole thing.  It's taxing the tiny widdle brain that Dan & I share.
