Take it easy there painter.

So yesterday I'm coaching this kid over the last few months (he's the second painter at a large shop 250 cars a month). Anyway, he's having issues with blending metallics (especially silver and light metallics). So he's got this silver accord (new door, bledn fender and qtr).

He gets the color on and asks me to help him with orientation of the metallic, so I go in the booth with him and show him what he should be doing and have him finish up. He does and I say, "did you check this color" he says yes, and asks me why. I say it does not look right but if you checked it outside and made a sample, cool, lets go with it.

we finish up and I give him some more instruction on how to handle it.

He goes in and applies clear coat and all goes well with that.

After he bakes it he asks me to look at it. I again say, that looks like the wrong color, but nice job with the metallic, looks perfect.

He pulls it out in the sun and oh boy is it the wrong color.

He then throws a bit of a fit. I do all I can to keep from laughing, and then find out it's already his second try with this car...............

Lesson learned son, when the master questions you, pay attention.
