they take them away... and they don't pay you for them either

Wise incentive scheme they got there  [thumbsup]  Why wouldnt they allow em to accrue in case of serious long term illness??   I mean, having employees piss 'em away so as not to miss out is a guaranteed cost.  Whereas allowing you to save em for a serious event that may never occur is only a potential cost....

their current policy isn't much incentive at all.
i would settle for payment of sick time not used

I think they'd argue that sick days are there as a safety net... for when you're sick.  Not a benefit to be paid out if you aint.  But I see no reason why if you dont use em, you lose em, coz clearly in that case many are gonna be tempted to become....

..."very sick".
