I used to have a seat like this at one time. After that I really try to avoid flying commercial. Especially coach. but you gotta do what you gotta do.

I was enlisted Aircrewman. That is the Flight engineers seat. He has his hand on the Pilots seat. The overhead panel belongs to the Flight Engineer on that plane. There's too much stuff going on for them to run the plane and fly it too.

trust me, if the job didn't require the travel, I wouldn't be doing it.  it lost its luster years ago.
