Morning.....sitting here in slack-jawed amazement over my insurance plans

Primary coverage EmblemHealth HIP NY HMO refuses to cover any of my doctors because they are "out of network"....HIP NY has no contracts with Sloan Kettering....if you live 20 or so miles from Sloan and get told you have bad cells in your ulcer....well you go to Sloan...one of the top 2 centers in the US, Houston being the other one

I am also on wife's plan....they are refusing to cover as secondary because I am not using my primary HIP coverage "properly" by going to HIP's assortment of in-network hacks and third rate hospitals

make the beast with two backsing amazing!!!

Somewhere along the line I must have ignored and tossed out a mailing from HIP that took me from Open Choice to HMO (unless I checked off a box saying keep me on open choice and mailed it back)....

I never/ever have actively signed up for limited option plans...and HIP was 130 dollars a month more expensive than the next plan....premium rates for crap in-network coverage

but what make the beast with two backsing Insurance (that is designed for NY residents) wouldn't have Sloan in-network??...A make the beast with two backsing cheap-ass lousy one is the answer

Meanwhile my Sloan Doc wants a PET-CT. to get a better picture of my fun spot...$4,305.00..... so out comes the credit card...I will fight the appeals battle later

The good news is that I still had time at work to switch my plan to United Healthcare which is totally wired up with Sloan and my company allows employees to switch plans with pre-existing ailment coverage

This is going to be an expensive month because Doc wants to also run Ultrasound Endoscopy but at least it ends come 1/1/2013 with new UHC plan kicking in

RAT-world is a strange place of harsh ironies....two coverages = no coverage

thank the stars I have the cash reserves to float myself for the month

but boy talk about bloodless make the beast with two backsing people

This is an insult to the Pez community

These are the same pigmake the beast with two backsers denying coverage to the victims of Sandy because it wasn't a 'hurricane' when it made landfall.

You should know there is very little money in paying claims...

it's all about the premium. ;)

Nate, it is ALL about the dollar....and let me tell you,,,, Sandy was a hurricane with tornado-force winds that clocked thru my neighborhood

lesson learned....never assume junk mail from your insurer doesn't have a time-bomb hidden in it

read everything and look for the hidden shaft they want to slide up your posterior
